Supplies: Students will be supplied with scissors, a ruler, an eraser, pencils, and a planner* with a jumbo clip to keep the planner on the correct page. They will need for their supplies: a pencil box container that will fit into the desk and a zipper pouch for pencils. These should help to keep their supplies organized. If your child wants to purchase his/her own supplies, an eraser, glue stick, a small hand held pencil sharpener, colored pencils, small scissors, a protractor, and a compass would be helpful. Please label all personal items with your name. As school begins we will discuss an appropriate method to organize your child's work papers. A box of tissues donated to the class would be greatly appreciated.

* Planner/Agenda: Your child will be responsible for keeping a record of his/her nightly and long-term assignments in his/her planner. This should make it easier for you to oversee the completion of assignments. If homework is not turned in your child will have a comment written by me in the planner. Timothy Edwards Middle School uses a similar planner.

Friday Folder: All notices will be sent home on Friday in the Eli Friday folder. Please return the folder as soon as possible.

Homework: Homework should not exceed 1 hour nightly, excluding long-term projects. Students will record all nightly and long-term homework assignments in this planner. If homework is not turned in your child will have a comment written by me in the planner. Please check the planner periodically so you know your child's homework habits. This is a communication tool. It is used to keep you informed about your child's academic habits.

Snack: Our class eats lunch at 1:15, therefore we will have time for a healthy snack in the morning. Please only 1 nutritious snack and no drink. A water bottle with the child's name on it can be kept at the desk.

Birthdays: We love to recognize this special event. Summer birthdays are recognized by the school and in the classroom on his/her 1/2 birthday.

Specials : Monday - Chorus, Tuesday - Music,  Wednesday-Art, Thursday - P.E., Friday -Library

Band and Orchestra:

Band:  Grade 4 - Tuesday     Grade 5 - Friday

Orchestra: Grade 4 - Monday  Grade 5 - Wednesday

Book Club: Your child will receive book club and software order forms about every 6-8 weeks. The orders are due back in one week. The prices are reasonable but please do not feel obligated to make a purchase.

Communications: I usually arrive at school by 8:15 and will be available until 8:55 a.m. to speak with you. Otherwise leave a message . My extension is 1424. I will contact you as soon as possible. I check my email every morning. This is the best way to communicate with me. It is actually easier for me to quickly return information to you.
