Parents,
    This Tuesday will be an early release day in our school system.  Students are released from school 2 1/2 hours early, meaning that our day will end at 12:00 p.m.  On Monday, we will be taking a Field Trip to Horizons in Salisbury.  We will be gone most of the morning and will eat lunch in the classroom when we return.
    Thanksgiving Break will be from Wednesday, November 25 - Sunday, November 29.  Student return to school on Monday, November 30.
    2nd quarter A.R. points are doubled because students have the entire quarter to meet their goal, instead of 1/2 the quarter, which was the case in 1st quarter.  This gives students plenty of time, but Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks add a degree of difficulty.  Please remind your child to read on a daily basis, including weekends.

Next week in Mr. Burris's Class:
READING: Next week we will be working on Thanksgiving activities.

MATH: We will continue studying multiplication our unit on Time.  Please begin reviewing multiplication facts at home with your child.  We will work on one set of facts per week.  Next week, we will focus on 2’s again and have a quiz on Tuesday.  Studying Math Vocabulary and key words will also help your child with math word problems, which will be seen a lot on the E.O.G.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We will study Native Americans and Pilgrims, as well as the Thanksgiving holiday.

WRITING: We will continue working on our first student written papers.  Students should know the rules to follow in writing sentences and should be answering all open-ended questions in class and on homework in a complete sentence.  Points are being deducted for incomplete sentences.
