Parents,
Our school is once again collecting Box Tops for Education.  We already have some in the room that have been brought in periodically, but not is a great time to send more.  These are located on many common household items.  Please cut these out and send them to school with your child.
Recently I have given out UNRAAVEL  bookmarks to the students.  You have seen them using these on reading homework assignments.  These steps are extremely important for the students to learn and will go a long way to ensuring that they pass the E.O.G. tests in May.
It has been extremely cold lately, and it doesn’t appear that this will be letting up any time soon.  Please make sure your child is dressing appropriately for the winter weather.
As your child may have told you, we now have an intern from Carson High School in our classroom every afternoon.  She will be assisting in the classroom from now until the end of the school year.  She is here to help me in any way that I need and is a wonderful addition to our classroom.  The students have already made Ms. Jordan feel welcomed!

Next week in Mr. Burris's Class:
READING: We will be reading “Dogzilla” from our reading text book.  We will have our regular Spelling, Vocabulary, and Comprehension tests on Friday.  Please remind your child to look back through the selection on all work, including homework, classwork, and tests.

MATH: We will finish our unit on Temperature and begin studying Probability and Money.  We will also continue working on Multiplication facts.  Please continue reviewing multiplication facts at home with your child every night!!!!  Each child is now working at his/her own pace, so each student is receiving a different multiplication quiz.  Students are told on Monday which facts they will be tested on for Friday and are told to write this information in their agenda.

SCIENCE: We are studying the Solar System, including the planets, Sun and Moon.

WRITING: We are working on a new prompt, relating to a Special Gift.  Students should know the rules to follow in writing sentences and should be answering all short answer questions in class and on homework in a complete sentence.  Points are being deducted for incomplete sentences, as well as incorrect spelling and letter formation.
