Dear Parents and Students, The weather is changing and the holiday season will be here before we know it. I can't believe that the end of first quarter is just around the corner and report card conferences will be soon. Look for a conference sign up sheet to be coming home soon with your child. I will try my best to give you your first choice of times but they will be granted on a first come first serve basis. For the most part, the students have settled into the routine of school. They are finding out that 3rd grade is more fast paced and responsibility/independence is a must. They are learning many new things as well as reviewing some things learned in second grade. Students need to focus and try their best at all times. I will be sending home soon a paper asking for individually wrapped candy, small treats or apples to put in trick or treat bags for Halloween. We are only allowed to have two parties a year so we will not have a party. However, I buy the kids cookies and drink to have a special "social" on the last day before Halloween. If you can, I would appreciate any help on filling the bags. Please encourage your child to read each night. The more they practice, the better they will be at reading. Make sure you ask them questions after they read. The questions need to be a mix of "right there" questions as well as ones they must think about, pull information together and generate the answer. It also helps a child to develop the "want" for reading if he/she sees Mom and Dad reading. In our busy schedules we often forget that children are watching us to develop habits - let's help them develop the habit of reading! Mrs.Greene 3rd Grade Teacher

Thank you for the opportunity to teach your child this school year.. I am sure that if we all work together it will continue be a great year. If you have questions or concerns during the year, please send me a note or call me at school (704-933-2534). Smiles, words of encouragement and pats on the back can mean more than an A+ on a paper and create a child's positive attitude toward school and learning - let's make it OUR goal to make sure each child feels that warmth everyday! |
