Monday, October 19th It is unreal that I am already thinking of setting appointments for our 1st quarter report card conferences, but I am. These first 45 days of school have really flown by, and we have had a lot of fun getting to know each other. I tell the students that we are one big happy family in our class, and I hope that your child can feel that love and connectedness. We are busy learning lots of science vocabulary, and will begin our unit on weather soon. Our class has begun our study of the different regions of the United States. With this unit the children will be asked to learn all 50 states and their locations. This will require some practice at home, but can be fun for the whole family. Please continue to practice math at home with your child, as many of us are struggling with the concepts of place value, and rounding our decimals. PLEASE encourage and set goals for your child at home for their reading AR goals. This will improve every area of their learning, and will also be reflected in their reading grade! Below is a list of important upcoming dates to keep in mind: 10-23-09 DEER Program 10-29-09 Early Release Day (12:00) 10-30-09 Teacher Work Day/Report Card Conferences 11-10-09 Report Cards Issued 11-24-09 Early Release Day (12:00) 11-25 thru 27 Thanksgiving Break |
