Dear Pre-k-1 parents,
Happy Friday everyone! We started our morning off in blocks with our circle time routine. For art today the children sat down at the tables and painted a picture of a garden. In their garden they could have flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Everyone did a great job! After art we sat down on the line and read a few books before it was time to go into big room.
At 9 we went into big room where the children broke into stations while I called them up one by one to work on fathers day gifts. We will continue to work on these over the next couple days. While in stations the kids played memory match, cootie bugs, legos and built with blocks. At 10 we went out onto mulch to enjoy the beautiful day. The children enjoyed time running around playing tag, building in the sandbox and playing ball. After lunch today the children enjoyed yummy cupcakes for Shaun and Sydney’s last day L we are going to miss you!
Next week we will be spending most of our time outside. While the children are outside other staff will be inside re-doing rooms and making them ready for our summer kickoff!! We are all so excited for our summer program! I hope everyone has a super weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday!
Thank you,
Ms. Melissa

Dear Pre-k-1 parents,
Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend! I would like to start off by welcoming Mona to our Pre-k-1 class. She will be with us over the next two weeks. She will be going into the kindergarten program in the summer! We started our morning off in blocks with our circle time routine. Today we talked about the new month of June and how to spell it. On our dry erase board we went over our sight words and numbers. For art today we all sat down around the table and made flowers out of tissue paper. Each child received an assortment of tissue paper, scissors and glue! Everyone did a fantastic job!
At we went into big rooms where we sat down on our names and read books about gardening and flowers. Once we were done reading our books we all put our thinking caps on and came up with all the different items we could plant in a garden. We came up with flowers, lots of fruits, and vegetables. Everyone did a great job coming up with items. Once we were done with our gardening discussion we had a dance party. Each child was able to get up in front of the class either alone or with a partner.
At 10 we went out to mulch where the children enjoyed fresh air and time to run around. We all had such a wonderful day back and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Dear Pre-k-1 parents,
Happy Tuesday everyone! We started out our morning with our normal circle time routine. We discussed the date, day, month and year. On our dry erase board we went over our sight words and numbers 1-25. We learned how to spell the word spider and web! After circle time we all sat down around the tables and made spiders! Each child received a black piece of construction paper to cut out a body of a spider. They were then given eight legs to fold to create spider legs! Once they were finished gluing all their legs on they were asked to pick out eight eyes to add onto their spider! Everyone did a fantastic job!
At 9 we went into big room where we sat down and read a book all about spiders! We learned that there are thousands of different kinds of spiders. There are jumping spiders, spitting spiders and even spiders that live underwater! We learned that even though they have 8 eyes they do not have very good eye sight so they feel around with the hair on their legs.
Once we were done with our spider discussion we went out to mulch to go on a spider hunt! As soon as we went out we found a big black spider that jumped around! We made sure to keep our distance!! Next we found several daddy long legs out on the tree and fence. Over the weekend I picked up a new ball at the store so we played several different games with the ball out on the playground.
At 11 we came into computer lab where the children took turns on the computer while also reading books, coloring and building with legos. We all had such a wonderful day and I look forward to another one tomorrow!
REMINDER! Field day is on Thursday and we will be having a cookout so your child will not need a lunch! Any questions please feel free to ask!
Thank you,
Ms. Melissa

Dear Pre-k-1 parents,
Happy Wednesday! We started our morning out in blocks with our normal circle time routine. We reviewed the date, day, month and year. On our dry erase board we went over our numbers and how to spell the word ant! Today the topic was ants! We learned how long they live, how big and small they are, what they eat and how they work as a team to accomplish a goal. For art we all sat down at the table and each child was asked to cut out three circles and glue them together to represent their ant. We added 6 legs and 2 eyes.
At 10 we went into big room where we sat down and read a book all about ants. We learned that there are ants called worker ants who take care and protect the queen ant. They also make sure all the ant eggs are protected and they are the ones who clean their living space and get food. The kids found all the facts we learned really interesting! Once we were done we started part two of our art project. The children each received a piece of green construction paper to cut our grass for our ants to crawls in. we also cut out big brown pieces to represent their ant house! We hung it up on the window in big room for everyone to see!
At 11 we went into science where we sat down with our show and tells. Everyone did a great job sharing with his or her friends. At 10:30 we took a trip out to mulch for a little fresh air outside! We all had such a wonderful day and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Tomorrow we will take most of the day to tie-dye our shirts for field day since it is supposed to be so nice!
