What an awesome group of students I have!

I have wonderful students! Overall I am very proud of them as the class averages on the History Chapter 3 test was 80% and above (remember that is class average not individual grades). We celebrated their success on Friday as we watched a short video clip of "The Ransom of Red Chief". We are currently working on a literature unit and will continue reading short stories this coming week. I hope each of you have a safe and fantastic Labor Day weekend - remember No School on Monday. Also, remember Yearbooks are on sale, the cost is $45 - also it's PTO Fundraiser time, raffle tickets will be available until Sept. 15th. Also, I will be out of town this weekend and will not have access to my email again until late Monday night. Thank you.

This week went by quick - even the students made comments on how quick the week seemed. Today we debated/discussed Columbus which resulted in the students voting against Columbus as a hero. They did a great job in their discussions and comments and I am very proud of them.
Grades have been updated. If your child has a mark of NM for a particular assignment, it means that I did not receive the assignment from your child. Please feel free to email me with any concerns you may have concerning your child.
Year book sales begin Monday.

Another great week!  This week in class we completed a History book scavenger hunt as we learned where to find information in our history book.  Thursday was picture day  -  if you missed ordering pictures on Thursday you can still order a package online - the school website has a link under "notices".  We also completed Section 1 of Chapter 3.  This week we will comlete Sections 2 and 3.  I look forward to Friday when we have a class debate/discussion on Christopher Columbus.  Remember, Monday night is Open House.  I hope each parent is able to attend.  Looking forward to another great week next week.

This week we begin Chapter 3 in our history books.  Last week reviewed context clues and completed poems titled "Where I am From."

What an exciting year we have before us and I look forward to learning more about each of you as we progress through this school year. This year we will learn about our nation's history through various activities including reading, writing and thinking.
