AUTOBIOGRAPHY = the writer tells the story of his or her own life. 


BIOGRAPHY = the story of someone's life written by another person.


FIRST-PERSON POINT OF VIEW =


(autobiographies) the writer tells about his or her own personal experiences and uses first-person pronouns such as I, me, and we.


THIRD-PERSON POINT OF VIEW = (biographies) are usually written from the third-person point of view.  The writer is outside the story and uses third-person pronouns such as he, she, and they.


PRIMARY SOURCE = firsthand account of an event written by someone who actually witnessed the event. Primary sources inclued autobiographies, journals, diaries, memoirs, and letters.


SECONDARY SOURCES = an account based on other sources and not on the source writer's own experiences. Sedcondary sources include articles, reference books, reports, and biographies.


AUTHOR'S PERSPECTIVE = the way an author sees the world.


TONE = the author's ideas, attitudes, feelings, beliefs, and values ( the writer's attitude toward his or her subject)


BIASES = preferences and prejudices.


AUTHOR'S PURPOSE = an author's reason for creating a particular work: to entertain, to inform, to express an opinion, or to persuade readers to do or believe something.


CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER = the order in which events happen in time.
