Welcome Back!!!!!
This is the first week of art classes. We are reviewing the basic rules and procedures for the classroom. For a detailed list of all art room rules and procedures please take a look at my page titled "The Art Room!". I look forward to working with your children throughout the year. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer in the art room, please feel free to contact me at lewiska@rss.k12.nc.us.
Art Portfolios
I am so glad to be back in the art room at Faith and Cleveland this year. The students have been so excited about art this week and I can't wait to get started working with them to create new art. Because I teach so many students it is important for them to have a special place to store their ideas and their art work in the art room. Therefore our first project for all grade levels has been to create our artist portfolios. A portfolio is a collection of work accumulated over time containing a variety of kinds of work; it may be reviewed and evaluated to assess student performance. Our art portfolios will be labeled and decorated by the students themselves as a way to express their own personalities from the first day of art. All portfolios will be kept in the art room and sent home the last week of school. If you don't see much artwork coming home, don't worry, a lot of student art work is kept in the portfolios to be used in art shows in the Spring.
I will be updating this Web Site weekly to let you know what is happening in the art room, so please visit us often. Have a great weekend and I can't wait to see how are artist blossom this year.
Sincerely,
Krista Lewis
