Dear Parents and Students,

We continue to be very busy here in the sixth grade.  I would like to remind you about a few upcoming events.

On February 14, we will have a Valentine exchange in class.  Students are invited to bring a Valentine for each member of the class if they desire.  I would like to thank the parents who will be sending treats that day.

The Middle Ages Banquet will be March 11.  Thanks to the many parents who are serving on the Banquet Committee.  All students are reminded that they are to dress in Middle Ages style clothing on that day.  The Middle Ages Project is due on March 4.

SEP Conferences wll be held on February 20th and 21st.  Please use the online scheduler to make your appointment.  This should be done as soon as possible.

We are busy with debate preparation.  Soon, all students will be presenting their debates at school.  We are hoping that a few students will be sufficiently prepared to participate in the Granite District Debate Meet.  Students have been given the information about the date, time, and place for the meet.

Thanks for your continued support!  You are all so awesome!

Dear Parents and Students,

I want to wish all of you a very happy holiday season!  I hope these next few weeks will be filled with joy as you spend time with your friends and loved ones.

We continue to work hard in class.  Debate is going well.  We recently had a very successful debate conference, where the kids learned a lot about this year's resolution.  After the first of the year, all students will need small index cards as well as a file box for the cards.  These will be used to gather facts concerning the debate resolution.

Please continue to check gradebook frequently.  I am trying hard to keep the grades updated daily.  Gradebook will give you a great indication of how each student is doing in class.

We will start our Middle Ages unit in January.  This will involve a packet, which each sixth grader in the school will be working on.  We look forward to the help of many parents as we begin to anticipate and prepare for the Middle Ages banquet.

So many of you are providing so many hours of volunteer service in our classroom and in the school.  Your efforts and support are what make Upland Terrace such a wonderful school!

Best wishes,

Curt Hood

Hi Parents and Students,

At this Thanksgiving season, I would like to tell you all how much I enjoy working with you here at Upland Terrace.  I am so grateful for your support and for the many contributions each of you make to our sixth grade program.  You are the greatest people in the world to work with.  How lucky I am!

Now that we have started the second term, I would like to remind you to check Gradebook frequently to monitor progress.

We have started our debate experience and will work hard to prepare for the district debate meet next spring.  The fall debate conference will be held on November 30.  Students were given a packet of information about this.  We are now preregistering those interested.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I just want to welcome all students to the sixth grade.  I am so impressed with the group of students in my class this year.  I have also enjoyed meeting many of the parents.  Thanks for your willingness to provide support this year.  I look forward to working with all of you.

SEP conferences will be help on Sept. 25 and 26.  Sign-up sheets will soon be posted on the classroom door.  I would like to invite all students and parents to attend this conference.

Please keep in touch with me as you have questions or concerns.

I hope that you all had a wonderful spring break.

On Wednesday, April 11, we will be sending eight of our students to the district debate meet at Skyline High School.  It will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.   Best wishes to these students.  If you want to come out to support them, it would be much appreciated.

Our CRT test will be held on the following dates:  April 16, 17, 18, 19, 23, and 24.  If at all possible, please make sure your children are in attendance on these days.
