Just a reminder there is no school Friday 2/14/14 and Monday 2/17/14 for the observance of President's Day.

6th graders are completing their unit on coordinate planes and ordered pairs. The next unit will be expressions.

7th graders are completing their unit on 2 step equations and will begin working on inequalities.

8th graders are finishing up their unit on the Pythagorean Theorem and will begin working on function tables.

8th grade Social Studies: Students will continue to work on the three branches of government. The completed the section on the Judicial Branch and are currently beginning the section on the Legislative Branch.

The second quarter is rapidly coming to a close. The year is flying by. Please remember that there is no school on January 17th and 20th. The second quarter grades will be entered by Friday 1/17/14. All missing work must be turned in by Thursday morning.

6th grade Math: Students just begun a unit on greatest common factor. They will be utilizing 100 charts, multiplication tables, and other hands on manipulitives to further understand and gain masterery of the concept. They class just completed a section on multiplication using arrays and repeated addition.

7th grade Math: Students are currently working on equations that incorporate algebraic expressions. They will be utilizing hands on manipulatives to express the problems and their solutions and to be able to explain the process in words.

8th grade Math: Students are completing their unit on reflcetions, translations, and rotations. They will begin working with square roots and the Pythagorean Theorom.


8th grade Social Studies: Students are currently working on the three bracnhes of government. They are doing research and compiling information in order to complete a graphic organizer. The students will continue learning about the Constitution and it's amendments.

6th Grade math will continue to work with identifying ratios and be able to create a double number line representing the ratio.

7th Grade Math have recently begun a unit on integers: identifying integers, adding,and subtracting.

8th Grade math will be working with finding the volume of cylinders, prisms, and cones.

8th Grade Social Studies is learning about the creation of government and the Constitution after being victorious in the Revolutionary War. Remember current events are due each Friday.

The second quarter has started out terrific, the momentum of learning is still going strong.!  Students received their report cards last Thursday, please conatct me if there are any questions regarding grades

.

6th Grade math will continue to work with identifying ratios and be able to identify the three formats used in writing ratios.  Students will be working on real life problems to create ratios and their eqivalents.

8th Grade math will continue to work with scienctic notation and place value. Students have been working on converting numbers in standard form to exponential form and back.

8th Grade Social Studies is learning about the creation of government and the Constitution after being victorious in the Revolutionary War.    Remember current events are due each Friday.
