Hello everyone,

I hope you enjoyed our visit from Hartwick College!  I also hope you had a nice Spring Break! Just a few reminders: Don't forget about solo auditions this week if you have signed up.  I will be giving out call slips today and tomorrow in class.  Also, next Tuesday, April 29th, will be the Quarter 4 music test.  You can access the vocabulary review sheet here.  The key signature chart and note values chart you must get in class.  This test will count 20% of your Q4 grade, so please study your vocabulary and key signatures. Next week will be NYSSMA lessons in preparations for the upcomig NYSSMA festivals.  Be sure to have your song memorized by next week so we can work on the interpretation of the music for performance, instead of just the notes and words.   Lastly, vocal tests will start on May 5th, and will count 10% of your Q4 grade.  As a reminder, our Spring Concert is Thursday, May 15th, so please come to class ready to sing and learn because we still have much music to finish learning!

Hello everyone,

Take time this break to rest your voice by getting plenty of rest and keep your throat warm and hydrated by wearing a scarf and drinking plenty of water.  Those attending NYSSMA this year, it is a perfect time to practice your NYSSMA song.  Make sure to check the lesson schedule for after break and attend your lesson as I need to give you a vocal test score this quarter and they will be held at lessons.  Please attend your NYSSMA lesson to make sure you get the correct information about your song to buy the correct version at the music store.  NYSSMA forms and checks are due in by Friday, January 10th, so please take care of ther NYSSMA paperwork over break as well.

If you are preparing for Les Miserables call backs, it is a good idea to hear more than one version of the songs to get some ideas for your interpretation.  "Acting" as you sing will give us a better idea of what you can do, so make sure to add that componant to your singing.  Again, if you are not on the call back list, it could mean that you were so great, we do not need to hear more of you, and maybe we have in mind something for you already.  Everyone did great at the first audition!!

Have a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year!

Hello everyone,

Congratulations on a job well done at the concert!  I am proud of all of you!

Please check the lesson schedule as we are continuing with vocal tests and NYSSMA preparation.  Also, please remember to bring your music binders to class as we will be working on new music.

There are still 10 openings for "Wicked" if anyone still wants to go. They will be offered to Tri-M students in the near future, so make sure you hand in your check and form soon.

Les Miserables call backs will be Tuesday, December 17th.  When preparing, make sure you are acting the songs out as you sing.  It will help us to see not only your singing talent, but your acting talent as well, which will help us to cast the show.  Good luck!!

If you have any questions about the songs or call backs, you can email myself or Mrs. Seigel. Please pass this information along to other students who are not in chorus, I can answer their questions too!

Have a great weekend!

Hello everyone,

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Most of you have them already, but make sure you get your 1/2 inch black binder for Monday, December 2nd.  Also the Levittown Chamber of Commcerce Tree Lighting is that night.  If you want to sing, just be there at about 5:30 PM at the Levittown Veterans Memorial Park in front of the Levittown Library.  We will sing at 6:00 PM.  Please make sure you are there with someone who can drive you home after or stay with you there.  I am looking forward to it!  Dress warmly, and wear your choral robe with an optional red scarf.  Don't forget your music!  If the weather is bad, it will take place inside the library.

Solos will be posted right after Thanksgiving break.  Sorry it couldn't be sooner!

I will also be having NYSSMA lessons next week-I will schedule them with you in chorus next week.

Have a great Thanksgiving break!

Mrs. Oliveto
