Writing- This week is off to a great start! Thank you to all the students who did their writing homework last night. Thank you also to all the students for remembering to bring your journals to school each day. We often look back at previous journal entries when we are writing so having our journal at school is crucial. Please continue to be consistent in bringing it each day.

Social Studies/ Science- We are focusing the first part of our week on researching Native Americans from this region. Later in the week we will start to construct our class terrariums. Please bring in 2 liter clear bottles for this project.

Scholastic Books- Orders are due by the end of next week. Please bring them in as soon as you are ready to finalize your order.

Thank you students for your focus and effort each day.

Today your students will be working on Generating Essay Entries.

The strategy I will teach is as follows:

  • We take a subject (a person, place or object) that matters to us and list ideas related to that subject. Then we take one of those ideas and write about it.

Tonight's homework is to practice generating a few ideas and write about one of them. Write as much as you can. (Length of homework: 20 minutes)

Also a reminder that tonight is Instrumental Music information session. It beings at 7pm.  Please come if you child has any interest in participating in this enriching program.

Good Afternoon Parents,

Hands down, BEST FIRST WEEK EVER! Your children did a phenomenal job this week learning routines and procedures. We dove into our curriculum with lessons in all subjects too. I have enjoyed getting to know the class and learning unique traits for each student through daily interactions and ME BAGS.

Today we started switching classes for Math and Reading. The students did remarkably well for the first day. We had smooth transitions and students met their other teachers. Overall, the students have settled in very well and are treating each other with respect and kindness. It is lovely to see and a great way to start our year!

Tuesday evening is Back to School Night. I will present an outline of what to expect in fourth grade. I hope you can all make it. Have a great long weekend, please remind students to read each day and stay dry!

That’s it for now! Please feel free to email me any time with questions, concerns, general comments, etc. The best way to reach me is via email and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.

Fondly,

Ms. Smith

Good Afternoon Parents,

Today was a MARVELOUS MONDAY! Thanks for getting your children to school on time and rested. We had a great day getting to know one another and learning some of our routines, procedures and expectations.

Homework: You child had a Planner in their binder. Please remind them to check it each night for homework. Tonight your child should begin thinking about what items they want to put in their ME BAG. They should also start collecting old magazines they'd like to use to decorate their writing journals.

Beginning of the Year Paperwork: I will send it home tomorrow in the Whale Folder. Please review the important documents and return ASAP.

Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with question or concers.

Best,

Ms. Smith
