Just a reminder that Progress Reports went home Friday.  Because we've been covering at least two chapters a day with our book study, students have a lot more reading grades this 9 weeks than previously.  Vocabulary words were sent home last Monday and students were given index cards to create study flash cards for all 12 words.  We should complete the book study this week.  We will have a review and test next week.  We will also watch the movie and compare it to the book.

Excited to have the GMAS behind us for now, we will be picking up with our regular class schedule this week.  We will still be in testing mode because 4th and 5th grade will be testing throughout this week.  We'll have to remain quiet in class and in the hallway due to classes testing in the computer labs on our hall.  We still need all students at school on time due to the hallway traffic during testing.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break and a Happy Easter!!  We now only have 8 weeks left in the school year and it doesn't seem possible that this year has gone by so quickly.  The weeks after Spring Break always seem to go by even quicker.  The testing window for Georgia Milestones begins this week. However, we will not begin testing until next Monday, April 9th.  Please make sure your child gets a good nights sleep each night and a healthy breakfast each morning.  We also need all students to school on time next week so that testing can begin on time.  Testing will last a couple of hours each day.  You will not be allowed to check your child out of school once testing begins.  If your child has an appointment on a testing day, please reschedule the appointment, or your child will have to make up the test on another day.  While this test does NOT define your child, it does give us a better indication of what your child has learned.  Thank you in advance for ensuring your child gets adequate rest, breakfast and arrival to school.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Thanks,

Hayle Adams

The last couple of weeks have been really hectic.  Thank you to those of you that have asked about my mom.  She's doing much better and back to her normal routine.  She gave us quite a scare resulting in a stint in one of the arteries in her heart.  Being out three days put me behind in grades.  I'm trying to catch up and get everything back on track.  I also hope to send home graded papers this week as well.

This week we'll be going back to studying the 13 Colonies in Social Studies.  Last week I sent home a science project on GA habitats.  Your child was assigned a region to cover.  The expectations for the project were sent home.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

As we prepare to get back on schedule, I trust that everyone had a restful holiday.  I sure did!!  While I'm pretty sure none of us are every ready to return to work, I am really ready to see your children.  I've enjoyed the last couple of weeks with my own family and friends, but I miss my work family.

This week we'll be getting back on schedule with homework.  However, we will not have vocabulary words until next week.  This week only the reading logs are due. We will also be reviewing Science and Social Studies skills in preparation for our quarterly testing next week.

Have a great week!
