6th-8th grades: This week we will be reviewing the conjugation of the verb jouer. We'll learn the words for frequency such as often, from time to time, rarely, never. We'll use these words in a number of activities in class. We'll also go over terms of ability such as well/poorly. A reading assignment will be given the third day of class. It will be due the first day of class next week.

5th grade: This week we will finish up our review/introduction to dates and weather. We'll have a few reading, listening, speaking, writing activities and then a quiz Wednesday. Study for this quiz for homework.

3rd-4th grades: We will continue our study of emotions this week. Students should be able to use the singular forms (I, You, S/he) to say that people are happy, sad, tired, mad, hungry, hot, cold, or scared. To review, students can go to www.quizlet.com, search MKorpalski1, choose "les sentiments." As always, we'll also be working on the Middlebury Interactive language program. Students are welcome to work on this at home. The website is www.pglms.com. The username and password is their student ID number.

1st and 2nd grades: This week we are focusing on the words for the numbers 1-20. Wednesday students will get a crossword puzzle to practice writing these words. They may have to take it home to complete if they don't finish it in class.

Kindergarten: We are learning a number of things such as our alphabet and numbers to 10. Here are some websites that can reinforce the material:

Murray is partnering with LaSalle Language Academy to offer a trip to Montreal and Quebec over Spring Break!

The trip is offered to 7th and 8th grade students.

Here are some details:

We would leave Chicago April 6 and arrive in Montreal where we will spend 3 days. A guide will take us around the city and we will see Olympic Park and ascend the Olympic Stadium Tower. Day 4 we will travel to Quebec City where we will again tour the city with a guide and visit sites such as Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre and Montmorency Falls. We will return Day 7.

Breakfasts and dinners are provided each day.

The trip is $2,300 and the cost includes airfare and transportation throughout the trip, hotels, guides, 2 meals a day, and admission to all museums/sites.

We will raise funds to help defer some of the costs of the trip, but families are responsible for paying the costs of the trip. Payment plans are available.

The trip is organized by Passports travel company which is well respected in the industry of student travel. You can visit their website at www.passports.com

This is a fantastic way to expose students to a French-speaking culture and encourage them to learn the language. It gives them an opportunity to use the language they have been studying for so long.

Please email Madame Korpalski if you are interested and would like more information: [email protected].
