Monday: Assigned Article: "This Sauce is Hot!" Students will complete the compare and contrast graphic organizer. Students will complete the 5 steps in Achieve 3000. 

Tuesday: Reword Kahoot (Whole Class)-Students will compete in a game of reword Kahoot using their Chromebooks. Human Sentence (groups) - Students will get various prompts and sentences. Students will have to rearrange themselves to “restate”. Introduction to Essay- Students will be introduced to the compare and contrast writing prompt. Students will have to RESTATE the prompt

Wednesday: Visual Literacy: Edpuzzle – Close read practice. K.W.L Chart- Students will answer several guiding questions as they close read the Ravine.

Thursday: Courtroom- Students will learn the importance of citing evidence and how to cite evidence.Who Pushed Butchie? (ISN)

Friday: Courtroom- Students will learn how to explain their answer by tying to other their answer and evidence. Students will complete essay on Canvas. Must include character type in essay. Students will complete any incomplete work

Focused Skills:

ELAGSE6RI1: Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.

ELAGSE6RL3: Describe how a story’s or drama’s plot unfolds in a series of episodes as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves towards a resolution.

ELAGSE6W2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content

Monday: Achieve 3000. Review of class progress on Achieve 3000. Introduction to using the reading tool "Setting Your Purpose". Students copied vocabulary for the week.

Tuesday: Grammar day! Students focused on Subjective and Objective Pronouns. 

Wednesday: Lesson on Characterization and Compare and Contrast.

Thursday: Students wraped up lesson and notes from Wednesday. Students will start compare/contrast essay.

Friday: Students will take quiz on pronuns and vocabulary. Students will submit essay.

 

This is a tentative lesson and can change depending on the students.

Monday- Students will be introduced to the ELA textbook and the first collection of stories: Facing Fear. Students will complete frayer models on the vocabulary for "The Ravine" short story.

Tuesday- Students will continue from yesterday and learn about variations of English. Students will read, "The Ravine"

Wednesday- Students will complete any work from previous days. Students will learn how to close read through Gradual Release. Students will complete writing wednesday prompt.

Thursday- Students will continue reading and utilize close reading stratgey. Students will review from assessment.

Friday- Students will have assesment on story. Students will complete any incomplete work. Wrap up day

Monday- What are the 8 parts of speech?

Students will setup ISN and begin Parts of Speech review.

Tuesday- How do I identify the subject and the predicate in a sentence?

Students will continue ISN setup and complete Parts of Speech review. Students will review simple sentences.

Wednesday- What does it mean to annotate a piece of writing?

Students will utilize writing skills and learn how to annotate.

Thursday- What are the steps that you should follow when you are close reading?

Students will complete work from previous days. Students will be introduced to close reading stratgey.

Friday- What are the steps that you should follow when you are close reading?

Students will have a notebook quiz and continue close reading.

ELAGSE6L1 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

ELAGSE6RL10: By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, in the grades 6-8 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.

 

LESSONS ARE TENTATIVE... MEANING THEY CAN CHANGE DEPENDING ON THE STUDENTS.
