Nonrenewable resources- cannot be replaced by nature once they are consumed. Example: Coal, oil and natural gas
Renewable- can replace themselves over time Example: forest, water, soil
Mineral resources- nonrenewable inorganic substances that were formed by the earth’s geologic process
Coal- first discovered by John Peter Salley (Sallying) on the Coal River, near Peytona, in Boone County.
53 of the 55 counties do have coal deposits. Only Hardy and Jefferson counties do not have coal deposits.
