I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! We were able to get in more of a routine with the daily schedule this last week! The students are working hard learning the routines and expectations in kindergarten!

Back to School Night- Thursday, September 3rd at 6:30 in OLLIS gym.

All School Mass- Friday, September 4th at 8:00.

Pep Rally for Fall Sports- Friday, September 4th at 2:15.

Monday, September 7- Labor Day, No School

Wednesday, September 9th- Spirit Day, 2:00 early dismissal, kids are allowed to wear gold spirit shirt with jeans or jean shorts.

I sent home a permission form for your child to participate in a taping by KOMU. It will be a short clip of the students saying the Pledge of Allegiance and it will be shown on KOMU. KOMU calls it the “Daily Pledge,” and it will be aired around 6:45am. I will let you know when our taping will be shown. If you do not want your child to participate, please just write me a note to inform me of your decision.

Reminder: The air conditioner works a little too well in my class, so please send your child’s OLLIS fleece to school so they may wear it in the class. Please make sure your child’s name is on the fleece and let your child know where his/her name is located on the fleece. I have told the kids to look for their name before they put the fleece in their backpack at the end of the day.

A Sneak Peek into the Week: Skills we will focus on with each subject.

The letter of the week is Ii, Incredible Inches. (Letter People Puppet) The homework sheet will be in your child’s folder on Monday and it will be due on Thursday.

Religion- God Made All Things

Reminder about homework: Make sure all pictures are colored and labeled.

Reading- This week we will focus on reading color words and continue to recognize written names of classmates, letter recognition and sounds. The kids have 2 books in their book bags to learn the words I, see, and can.

Writing- Drawing a picture then labeling the picture or writing a sentence about the picture. Will learn about chopping (sounding) out words and spacing words apart in a sentence.

Introduce narrative writing- A narrative story is a true or imaginary story that has a beginning, middle and end. Introduce the elements of the story; topic, details and pictures.

Math- Use manipulatives to sort by color, size and shape.

Science- Reviewing the outer body parts.

Social Studies- Continue to go over rules/expectations and learning about our friends in class. Family and school helpers.

Please call or email me if you have any questions or concerns about school.

Have a super week!

Carm
