Just a reminder--beginning with the 2013-14 school year, all WCPSS students and staff must use WCPSS provided e-mail accounts for student to teacher e-mail communication.  There are a number of reasons why Wake County and other peer districts assign student email; a few of the reasons are:

* Students under the age of 13 are not legally allowed to create e-mail accounts with most major providers such as Google and Hotmail.

* Complies with Board Policy 2313, R&P 2313 and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

* Provides transparent communication between students and teachers.

* Allows intervention and investigations into e-mail harassment and/or cyber bullying.

* Honors Parent request to deny student e-mail.

* Teachers no longer required to keep up with a student's ever changing personal e-mail address.
