This Friday, November 4th, Pre-K dismissal is at regular time, 2:35PM. If you would like to pick up your child at noon (12:00PM) when grades K-8 are dismissed; please notify the classroom teacher prior to Friday. There is After School

Hello families,
We coming to an end of our tree study. We are ending the study with a trip to oval park Friday November 4th. If you like to chaperone this trip you are welcomed to join us. We will be leaving the school at 9:30am and will be returning by 10:30am. November 4th is also a half day for Saint Brendan students. If you wish to pick up your little one at the noon dismissal please provide a letter stating you wish to pick up your child early. Please return the permission slips by Thursday.
This Monday is our costume parade. The pre k students are encouraged to wear a costume for our parade. The costume does not need to be Halloween related but can reflect a career or person they look up to. The parade will be in the school yard beginning at 1:30pm. If you wish to pick up your child after the parade you can. If you are unable to make it to the parade we will dismiss at our usual time 2:25pm. Also keep in mind the costume should be comfortable, bathroom assessable and without weapons or blood.
Our next study will be the clothing study. Now that the weather is getting cooler students are noticing that they have to dress in many layers. Please begin to practice putting on and taking off their coat. Self help and self dress skills are developed at this age.
Lastly, the children have really enjoyed watching and listening to educational videos during our meeting time and movement time. Please view these videos on YouTube: The number rock, Im going on a bear hunt by Greg and Steve and Alphabet song by have fun teaching. I will keep you updated on related materials that you can view in the future.

Hello families,
The children are very excited about tress. So far we have learned bigger, smaller and same as. We compared ourselves to the size of trees. We also measured leaves using units 1-10. This past week we read the story "Chicka, chicka, boom, boom". We identified the first letter in our name and the letter sound. We will countinue counting units, comparing sizes and identifying letters. We also discussed and explored tree parts. Many of the children shared a tree collection with the class. They will be located in the science area for the rest of study.
Halloween is Monday, October 31. The prek classes will have a parade during our outdoor play time. Students may participate but please send in your little one in the costume. Make sure it is comfortable and easy to get in and out off for the bathroom. Also absolutely no props, (weapons) blood or clowns as per the precincts request.

Our class is beginning to study trees. We'll be observing and comparing trees to learn about what lives in them, what they're made from, and who cares for them. We hope that this study will help your child explore and appreciate nature. As we study trees we will use literacy, math and the arts to explore the topic in depth.
What you can do with your child?:
If you are able to take a "tree walk" with your child, we would appreciate your help in collecting tree parts to investigate and bringing them to school. Put the leaves, twigs, pine cones, and acorn in a bag and place it your child's back pack.
Reminder: Half day Thursday, October 13th. Noon dismissal. If you received a parent teacher conference form please sign,and return it by Tuesday. Please attended a meeting with me between the times 12:30-3:00. The meeting should not be no longer than 15 minutes and it is first come first served.
Please bring in a family picture or pictures to be added to our family tree project if you have done so already. Have a wonderful week!
