The first two weeks are complete! The children are already creating strong relationships with each other and their teachers. For the first week the lesson's central focus was to learn each other's name and how to recognize their own. The children sang songs like "Everybody has a name" and "Clap your name". The children used many ways to learn how to form their own name. They used magnet letters, alphabet beads, shaving cream and sand to spell out their name. They also traced their name and graphed the amount of letters in their name. The children compared who had the most and the least amount of letters in their name. The children also became familiar with the classroom areas, the classroom rules and classroom routine.
The children met the music teacher Mr. T and Mr. Scharsky, the gym teacher. We have gym Tuesday on B week so make sure your little one is wearing sneakers.
We read the stories "Wemberly Worried" by Kevin Henkes. The story is about a new student to school making a new friend. We also read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see." By Eric Carle.
Read to your child at home at least ten minutes a day so that they become comfortable with reading a book. You can also practice writing their name. Parents are children's first teacher. Let's countinue the learning at home.
We began this we with the rhyme Mary Had a Little Lamb". We discussed how important rules are in school. We also counted Mary's sheep using cotton balls. The children were shown a number and the children had to count the amount of cotton balls. We ended this week with the "Humpy Dumpty" rhyme. The children observed the egg dropping and breaking. We discussed why rules keep us safe. We also had a fire drill, the children did great.

Next week we will discover the word "unique". We will draw our self portraits, discuss family traditions and feelings. Please provide a family picture for next week.
Thank you, Ms Lamboy
