This week in ILT we are focusing on mastering geometry skills. Geometry is 28% of our GMAS. Students are responsible for the following skills on IXL under 8th grade: N1-4; O6,8,10,11,12; P1-10; Q1-5; and R1-5. They have this week and next week to complete these with a smart score of 90 or above. We are also working on reading comprehension via Achieve 3000 and USATestPrep. Modules will be assigned.

This week in ELA (block schedule) we are working on writing and reading comprehension skills. assignments in both Achieve 3000 and USATestPrep have been assigned.

This week in math we are working and reviewing rules and properties of exponents.
This week in science we are finishing up our unit on waves and moving to force and motion.
This week in GA Studies- one group is finishing up reconstruction and new south. Another group is learning about modern ga. The second group will test on standards 9 & 10 on Friday. There are also two projects due this week for the second group.

This week in ILT- we are working on skill building with reading comprehension and math skills which are needed in order to pass the GMAS. The students are responsible for 2 achieve 3000 articles (on which they must score a 75% or higher the first try) and 3 8th grade math skills on IXL with a smart score of 85.

This week in ELA- we are starting collection 2 from our Georgia collections book and reading the story “My Favorite Chaperone.” Students are responsible for reading the story in class as well as at home. It is available on line.

This week in Math- we are working on exponents, real numbers, irrational numbers, and the expressions and equations portion of the GMAS.

This week in science- we are continuing our lesson on waves.

This week in GA studies- one group is learning about the New South. Another group is finishing up the standard on GA during WWI and the Great Depression…this group has a project that is due on Friday. We will also be starting the standard on GA during WWII and post WWII era.

This week in ILT- we are working on IXL and achieve 3000. Students should be working on their IXL recommendations and the articles in the articles in their mailbox on achieve. At the end of the week, they should have 4 articles: 2 from last week & 2 from this week. Please let me know if they need to stay afterschool.

This week in ELA- we are finishing up our Pre-GMAS 2. We are focusing on citing textual evidence, annotating text, and we are starting our writing Wednesdays.

This week in Math- we are taking our Pre-GMAS 2. We are learning about the real number system: exponents, rational, and irrational numbers.
This week in Science- we are taking our Pre-GMAS 2. We are learning about Waves. Waves is the largest portion of our GMAS.

This week in GA Studies- we are taking our Pre-GMAS 2. One group is learning about reconstruction following civil war. Another group is learning about Georgia during WWI and the Great Depression. Students learning about WWI and the Great Depression have homework packets and assignments on USATestPrep to complete.

This week in ELA- we are finishing up on our class novel, Forged by Fire. Our projects are due. Achieve 3000 articles are due as well. Your student is more than welcome to stay after school to work on these articles.

This week in Math-we are working on functions. Your student has been given a progress report print out as well as the grade needed (Smartscore of 85). They are welcome to stay after school.

This week in Science we are learning about heat and energy transfer. Please encourage your child to do their USATestPrep and IXL assignments.

This week in GA Studies- one group is focusing on the civil war and its impact on Georgia. Another group is learning about the New South. If your child was given a permission slip, please return it before Wednesday.
