ILT- this week in ILT we are focusing on skill building our English language arts and writing skills. We will be utilizing USATestPrep and Achieve 3000.
ELA- This week in ELA we are focusing on main idea. We will be doing close and purposeful reading on “Man-Made Monsters.” We will be starting our song analysis which is part of our project for our class novel “Forged by Fire.”
Math- This week in Math we are still focusing on algebra and functions. Algebra and functions is 40% of our GMAS. This is a very important skill. Please focus on the skills listed under Z on IXL.
Science- this week in science we are focusing on the energy transformations and heat transfers.
GA Studies- This week one group is focusing on the causes of the civil war and the impact of the civil war on GA. Another group is focusing on “The New South.” Please encourage your student to do the homework assigned as this will help them to master the standard.

This week in ILT we are focusing on GMAS Prep. It is going to be a GMAS Boot Camp. We are focusing on those skills needed in order to pass the GMAS. Meaning, we are focusing on the areas that will compose the majority of the GMAS. In math, that is geometry & algebra and functions. Your student is responsible for completing the following skills on IXL : N.1, N.2, N.3, and N.4. P.1, P.2, P.3,P.4, and Q.1, Q.2, Q.3, Q.4, and Q.5. We will use USATestPrep and achieve 3000 to building reading comprehension and writing skills.

This week in ELA, we are reading our class novel, Forged by Fire. We are also writing using the fort writing template. Every Wednesday will be writing Wednesday.

This week in Math we are learning about functions. Please utilize USATestPrep and IXL as directed. Tutoring is Tuesday thru Thursday 4-4:45 pm.

This week in Science we are learning about heat transfer. Students recently took their common assessment on energy. Please help her student study and ask them to review their day with you.

This week in GA Studies, we are learning about the reconstruction and its effects on GA. We will be doing close and purposeful reading. Please encourage your student to study nightly. Help your child to study. They have been given notes, resources, and homework to prepare them for the upcoming test on reconstruction.

This week in ILT- we are focused on skill building. Everyone is finishing up their IXL diagnostic tests. They will be building their skills and practicing skills taught in math class via IXL.com. They will practice reading comprehension skill building via achieve 3000. Required articles for this week: Remembering the Amistad; Found: Oldest Flute, Oldest Carving; Water From Thin Air; Listen Up, Families!; The Power of the Pen; and Old Sport is New Again.

This week in ELA- we are working on grammar and punctuation marks. We will also be implementing writing Wednesdays.

This week in math- we are learning about volume of spheres, cones, and cylinders. Please utilize IXL and usatestprep for resources. Make sure your student is completing IXL assignments with a smartscore of 85 or higher.

This week in science- we are learning about the different types of energy and their uses.

This week in GA Studies: one group is focusing on westward expansion and the other is assessing the civil war and its impact on GA; this group will also start the reconstruction unit this week.
