You are asked by the Board of Education to compare and contrast the two broad types of assessment (formal and informal) to a group of concerned citizens who have raised questions about the district’s standardized test scores. Discuss the type of information that you would share with these citizens. Be sure to give specific examples and how both can be used to benefit student achievement.

  1. Because students have always differed within any classroom, there has always been a need to develop routines and procedures for attending to those differences. With your current knowledge of what we call "differentiation," how is it similar to and different from other approaches to dealing with student differences that you're aware of?

Respond to this title question using information from Chapter 11 (Teacher Effectiveness). Make sure your thoughts are concise yet thorough (no more than 4-5 sentences).  Also, you can respond to the comments of others in this thread as they respond to the initial question.  You must post at least once and respond to another comment once (a total of two times) in order to receive participation credit. Be sure to include your name in your posts and comments so I know who to give credit to.

With 50 percent of all species living in the world's rain forests, the importance of protecting this habitat shouldn't be ignored. Amphibians such as the colorful frogs of the rain forest are especially at risk of extinction because many species live in a very specific niche of their habitat. Logging, disease and illegal animal trade put them in further peril. The potential medical benefit of these frogs to humans will go undiscovered if they become extinct. As there are currently 6,000 endangered amphibians

Physical changes occur when objects or substances undergo a change that does not change their chemical nature. A chemical change occurs when the composition of the substances changes: one or more substances combine or break up to form new substances. Chemical changes are often recognized by an indication such as odor, the release of heat, color change, production of a precipitate, or production of a gas.  A physical change involves a change in physical properties. Physical properties can be observed without changing the composition of matter. Examples of physical properties include: texture, shape, size, colour, volume, mass, weight, taste, smell, and density.  Give me some examples of a physical change and some examples of a chemical change.
