Extension C: Natural Selection vs. Artificial Selection.

After watching the video on natural selection vs. artificial selection please take organized notes on the all of the information provided in the video.  Make sure to write neatly, use underlines or highlighters to make titles/main words pop in your notes.  If examples are given remember to include these too!  TITLE & DATE.

 

Extension D:  Wild Wolves to Man’s Best Friend

After watching the video for extension D, please answer the following questions on page 110 of your ISN, top right quadrant.  Please make sure the notes are detailed and clear.  Don’t be afraid to restate prompt or draw pictures to help support your work.  TITLE & DATE.

 

 

 

 

 

  • How did wolves turn into dogs?
  • What type of selection did humans use to do this?
  • What were Labradors breed for (purpose)?
  • What were Greyhounds breed for (purpose)?
  • What were Pekingese dogs breed for (purpose)?

 

 

Extension E:  How the dog has changed over the last 100 years.

After watching the video link for extension E, pick 2 dogs you like the most and explain 2 ways that each have problems due to selective breeding (artificial selection).  (Try to do 2 dogs that your friend/classmate did not do!)  Include their name and 2 problems for each dog.  Use the bottom left quadrant, p. 110.  TITLE & DATE.
