STEM FAIR (Science Fair) Information:

I will post periodic reminders and helpful resources (in lieu of a typed packet or ditto sheets) to Class Dojo and new.schoolnotes.com/amingram.

Seventh and eighth grade students have a choice of engaging in independent experimentation, engineering design, or writing an APA cited scientific research essay paper titled, "Revolutionizing Science".

Once school is back in session, I will create an assignment for students to submit their research documents and/or the scientific essay on Google Classroom (due Dec.2).

Students desiring to enter the school fair will need to provide me with 3 printed copies of their paper, also.

Helpful resources:
http://cpsscifair.org/ (2020 Science Fair Handbook) browse student and parent areas at the bottom of the Home screen.
http://www.citationmachine.net/style (APA style Citation Formatting website)
https://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/createagraph/ (graph creation if unfamiliar with other platforms)
http://ecuip.lib.uchicago.edu/sciencefair/html/wizard/index.html (Science Fair Wizard for experimentation projects. Excellent Resource and suggested timeline!)

Please Note:

*Engaging in experimentation or a design project does not exempt a student from library research and writing an APA cited research paper that includes their experimentation results or design process in addition to presenting to the class or at the fair.

*Students choosing to write the Scientific essay are not required to conduct experimentation or present to the class but may enter their essay for submission to the Essay portion of the school fair and on to the state fair.

* It takes approximately 2½ to 3 months to complete a quality STEM Fair project! Be proactive, do not procrastinate, and set deadlines. Begin with the end in mind: Dec. 2- Final Project Due at School Dec. 12- MLA’s STEM FAIR

*Only students choosing to conduct Experimentation or Engineering Design projects will need a tri-fold project display board.

*I will offer in-person, during and after school, mentor sessions for students that need advisement on their projects. (TBA)
