Students should be reading nightly to ensure that they reach their AR points by Oct. 23.
This week students will be learning about plot structures while reading "The Adventure of the Speckled Band."
Students will given their first essay topic. This essay is part of a county wide competition. I will choose the top 20 final essays and submit them. The competition is sponsored by the Bully Prevention Program and their winner will recieve a certificate and acknowledgment in the Daily Reflector.
Students vocabulary words for this week can be located under files along with this weeks notes.
This week students will be finishing up "Flowers for Algernon" and begining a new text. We will continue to go over text structures and literary themes.

Communication Folders go out Tuesday and need to be returned to your students homeroom teacher by Wednesday with all forms completed.
Students should bring their AR books with them in class. Information regarding their AR project will go out Tuesday.
All students will need their three ring binders and composition books for this week.
We will begin reading "Flowers for Algernon" on Tuesday. As we approach the end of the book we will be viewing the movie. This is so that students can compare and contrast the text version with the video production.
Students will also review the eight parts of speech this week and discuss writing techniques for summarizing text.
Powerpoint slides from last week and this week will be posted on Tuesday afternoon.
Student Fees are $10 and need to be paid by the end of the first nine weeks. Fee's are to be returned to your childs Home Room teacher.
