this week we are in PREPARATION mode for the GMAS!!! please encourage your student to continue working on their IXL packet. It addresses standards that will be covered on the GMAS. This is a surefire way for the students to get on and stay on the road to 525!!

there will also be an intensive ela study hall/prep tuesday-friday from 415-until.

This week we will be taking the Pre-GMAS. All students are encouraged to review material covered this nine weeks as well as the end of last nine weeks.

USATestPrep is a good resource for information and review.
For ELA the skills on IXL are: A.1, B.1, B.2, C.1, C.2, C.3, GG.1-8, PP.1-3
For Math the skills on IXL are C.1-8, D.1-8, F.1-21, G.1-4, J.1-4, M.1-4, N.1-4, O.6,8,10,11,12, P.1-11, Q,1-5, R.1-5, T.9,10,15, W.1,2,3,6,7,8,11,12,13,14, Y.1-12, Z,1-18, and AA.1-3

For GA Studies the skills on IXL are A.1-6, B.1-4, C.1, D.1, E.1-5, F.1,J.5-6 K.1-10, L.1-2, M.1-3, N.1,2,3,5,7,10, O.1-5, P.1-2, and R.1-3

PLEASE work on these until your child has reached 525 on GMAS!!!!!

This week in ILT- we are focusing on skill building. There are two assignments in USATestPrep for ELA: ELA review and ELA review 2. We are also skill building with IXL and prodigygame.

This week in ELA- we are finishing up “A place to call home.” We are also learning about point of view and author’s purpose

This week in Math- we are learning about slope, functions, and the number system.

This week in science- we are learning about force and motion.

This week in GA Studies- we are learning about GA’s government. Assignments are available on USATestPrep and are due on Wednesday. Good job on the civil rights movement test!!!

This week in ILT- we are working on our ELA skills. A module has been assigned. It is due on Friday. All grades will be put in.

This week in ELA- the online (achieve 3000 and USATestprep) assignments are due on Friday. We are learning and talking about theme vs. topic and deepening our reading comprehension skills.

This week in Math- we are reviewing those content weights (geometry and algebra & functions) that are the majority, 68% of our GMAS. We are also learning about functions, graphing and solving linear equations.

This week in science- we are introducing the topic of force and motion. Assignments on waves that were not done, NEED to be completed ASAP.

This week in GA studies- we are learning about the civil rights movement.

Parents! Progress reports come out Friday.

This week in ILT we are still working on building those geometry skills which are 28% of the GMAS. The same list of skills from IXL last week is still in effect. Grades will be entered on Wednesday, 6FEB2019.

This week in ELA- we are doing a comic strip of the story “my favorite chaperone.” We are also starting our class novel, Darkness before Dawn. It is available online and I encourage you to read it with your student. We are also learning about theme vs. topic.
This week in math, we are reviewing functions, linear equations, and transformations. Geometry (transformations) and functions together make up 68% of the 8th grade math GMAS.

This week in science we are reviewing waves and preparing for the assessment.

This week in GA studies, one group is reviewing south and wwi. Another group is starting the unit on economics and civil rights.
