As the school year has progressed, unfortunately only a small percentage of the class is consistently doing homework. I often give time in class to complete homework when we have finished all notes for the day. Unfortunately, students are not using this time wisely and not doing the homework in class OR outside of class. Personally, I'd rather get done math in MATH CLASS when I have the teacher available.
In order to push productivity in class as well as homework completion, I am now counting HW as a class work grade when they have time to complete it in class. This will contribute to the formative portion of the grade. As long as students are completing the HW, their formative grade will increase. There is also a strong correlation between completing homework and doing well on quizzes and tests! :)

Today, 9/28, handouts for parent conferences were given to the students with a D or an F as of the interim grade reports. These students have preferences for parent conferences as there are limited spots. Parent Conferences are next Thursday, October 5th.
To the parents of a cadet with a D or F, the handout is to be returned BY Monday, October 2nd. You can hand it in tomorrow as well! Please pick which type of conference you would prefer.
To the rest of the parents, again spots are limited. If you feel you would like to have a conference (with a grade higher than a D), then e-mail me. I will fit you in as long as there are spots on a first come first serve basis.
