Greetings students and parents,

As we move into our second week of testing please ensure you study, study, study, get a goodnights rest, and eat a good breakfast. We had a great first week of testing so let’s ensure we have a 2nd great week of testing.
I hope everyone had a great weekend, and students you’re rested up and ready for another great week at the “Best Middle School in the World”. Parents thank you for all that you do and being an active participant in your child’s education. Students please make sure you are doing your classwork, studying, and homework on a daily basis to ensure we are ready to exceed the standards on the new GMAS test in April.

Remember – CCGPS, CCRPI, and GMAS
Sixth Graders-
This week in 6th grade Language Arts we will begin reading our last class novel “Holes”. We will be doing hands on activities with this novel along with popcorn reading in class. Since we have taken our ELA and writing portion of the test, we will be reviewing other content areas in class.

Remember reading is fundamental- It expands your vocabulary, and it is a known fact it raises your IQ level, so READ, READ, READ!!!!!!


Seventh Grade-

Seventh Graders
This week in ELA we will begin our poetry unit. Students will be creating a poetry portfolio and composing various poems. Students will learn poetry terminology, analyze different poems, and research famous poets. Along with starting our poetry unit, students will be reviewing various content areas to help them prepare for the GMAS.

Seventh Graders-
This week in 7th grade Language Arts we will be learning how to distinguish between tone and mood. Students will be able to determine the tone or mood of a passage correctly. Students will reviewing and learning new concepts and strategies to help them exceed on the new GMAS test. Students will practice their writing skills on a daily basis and we will continue working on Race and answering short constructed response questions similar to those on the GMAS. Parents and students please make sure you aren’t using texting language when you’re writing. Writing is very essential this year especially taking our new GMAS test and having 7th graders take a writing test for the first time this year. Practice makes perfect, SO STUDENTS PRACTICE YOUR WRITING ON A DAILY BASIS.

Monday- Thursday- study for your GMAS test
Friday-no school
