March 7, 2016

Dear Parents,

We have successfully finished our unit on Buildings. I would like

to thank you for your hard work in reinforcing the skills at home. For the next

few weeks, we will be learning about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. I encourage

you to talk to your child about the steps they can take to help the earth. For example,

have them close the faucet while brushing their teeth to save water, turn off lights when not

in the room to save energy, etc. These skills will allow your child to become aware of their

environment and how they affect it.

A few reminders:

Parent surveys are due by April 1st.
March 23rd-Full Day; No after school
March 24th-April 1st- no school (Easter Recess)

Dear Parents,

This week, we will be focusing on the tools and equipment that builders need to

build buildings. We will also be focusing on new vocabulary words such as small, tall,

wide and short. I encourage you to go over these words with your child and have them

identify small, tall, wide and short buildings. This will help trigger their prior knowledge

as well as reinforce skills learned at school.

Friday, February 12th-16th- No School; school will resume on Wednesday,

I would like to inform you that we have successfully

completed the study on Clothes. The next study that we

will be working on is titled, Buildings. To get this study

started, we will be looking at all sorts of pictures of

buildings. I encourage you to find pictures of different

buildings from sources such as magazines, newspapers,

computer and neighborhood walks and have your child

identify them. They may bring them in to share with the class. In this

study, students will be learning concepts and skills in science, social

studies, literacy, math, the arts, and technology.

Reminder: No school- January 28th for PreK students

Sincerely,

Ms. Torres
