Dear UPK 1 Parents,

Just a few reminders:

-Please fill out the updated pick up list.
-Please make sure to label all of your child’s belongings such as hats, gloves, scarves, sweaters and sweatshirts. We do go outside on a daily basis. To ensure that your child is warm, I encourage you to send appropriate outerwear. Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
*If you would like to volunteer to read or do an activity with the class during afternoon story time on Fridays, please let me know.

School-Home Connections:

• We are currently learning about our five senses through the use of manipulatives, visual aids and music. This week we will continue focusing on our sense of smell. I would like to encourage you to have your child identify how they use their sense of smell. For example, before a meal you may ask your child to guess what they will be eating by using their sense of smell…etc.

**The objective is to help the students understand different ways that they use their senses on a daily basis.
Thank you very much for your cooperation!

I hope everyone had a great long weekend! We will continue working on our five senses. As always, I encourage you to continue to remind your child on how they have used their senses in a daily basis. As a challenge, you may ask them which senses have been omitted. This helps them with mathematical mental math skills. Thank you all for your support and cooperation.

School-Home Connections:

• I would like to encourage you to talk with your child about the different modes of transportation such as cars, airplanes, boats, etc.
• In addition, students are encouraged to observe safety signs on their way to school. Examples are stop signs, yield signs, traffic lights, one way signs, etc. On Friday, October 24th, we will discuss their importance during our group meeting.
