Dear Kindergarten Parents,

We will be putting up a Christmas tree in our classroom. Each student may bring in three unbreakable ornaments to hang on it.
We also light candles on our Advent wreath everyday and practice our songs for the Christmas Show.

In ELA we will be finishing Domain 7, Kings and Queens. We will continue with phonics and word families. Please practice reading the words on the homework papers. Making flashcards with these words on index cards would be a good idea.

In Math we have moved on to Module 2, 2 and 3 dimensional shapes.

Our science project, the amaryllis plant is ready to bloom with eight flowers!

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Welcome back!

We will be starting Domain 7, Kings and Queens, in ELA. We will recall facts to answer who, what when, where and how questions.
We will interpret information to answer questions and we will define and use new words.

We will move onto Module 2 in Math by the end of the week. This is about two and tree dimensional shapes.

Our Religion chapter will be about Advent and preparing for Christmas.

Our Amaryllis science project is doing really well. We will also study about animals such as chipmunks preparing for winter.

Our Social Studies unit concentrates on economics. We talk about the topic, “Do we need it or do we want it?”

We will not be exchanging Christmas cards in the classroom. It gets a little too busy now. We will exchange Valentine Day cards in February. I will give you the names of our classmates then.

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

This week we are finishing our studies of the Pilgrims and Native Americans. On Wednesday, dismissal will be at 12:00. You do not have to send in a snack that day. We will be having a Thanksgiving activity with Pre-K. Wednesday is also a $2 dress down day.

It’s getting colder now, so please either wear sweaters or bring them in backpacks so we can use them to go back and forth to the main building instead of coats, jackets and sweatshirts. Please, please, please make sure name or initials are in sweaters and sweatshirts!!!!!

On Monday, Nov. 28, pictures with Santa will be taken. Only children who will be having photo taken can wear a Christmas outfit. If you are not taking the photo, you wear the gym uniform because we will be having gym. Girls especially, please either wear or bring sneakers for gym.

The Christmas concert will be at night on Friday, Dec. 16. You will also need a Christmas outfit for that night.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Mrs. Callahan

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

This week we will be finishing Common Core ELA Domain 9, Columbus and the Pilgrims. We are continuing with our sight words and word families.

We are near the end of Math Module 1, topics F and G, counting numbers to 10. We will be starting with word problems soon.

It would be good to encourage the children to do their homework neatly and not just rush to get through it. Thank you.

Our religion chapter is about how God made us special.

In science we have started to grow an amaryllis plant and we are logging its growth. We will read about wild turkeys this week.

In social studies, we will discuss the differences between the Pilgrim and Wampanoag way of life.

Have a good week,

Mrs. Callahan
