Happy Monday!!!!

Here are a few reminders for this week:

  1. PLEASE encourage your child to bring the Georgia Studies ISN home to begin studying for the GMAS! We are coming to an end of the course and we are gearing up for what we have been working for!
  2. Utilize USAtestprep to work on their Government assignments due MARCH 31, no exceptions. Students have been assigned this since the last week in February.Utilize Quizlet to study terms and vocabulary in this class! It can be used on the computer and on the phone as well!!!
    This week students will be taking their Pre-GMAS 3 assessments so make sure that they are studying!!

Happy Monday!! I hope that your weekend was restful and safe from the storm! 

Reminders:

  1. USATestprep Government Assignments due March 31 
  2. Make sure your child is bringing their ISN home to begin study for the GMAS

Here is what we are discussing for this week:

Monday:

We discussed about the Judicial Branch of government along with juvenile justice. The students seem very engaged in the two topics!

Homework: Work on USAtestprep and begin studying for GMAS

Tuesday:

Students will be working on their "Create a Rehabilitation Center for Juveniles" in pairs during the class period. They will then present it to the class. 

Homework: Work on USAtestprep and study for GMAS

Wednesday:

Students will learn about the local government and will take notes. 

Homework: Work on USAtestprep and study for GMAS

Thursday:

We will start on our last history standard focusing on Georgia in the modern era until now. 

We will be focusing on the impacts of Mayors Andrew Young and Maynard Jackson and focus on the contributions of Jimmy Carter.

Homework: Work on USAtestprep and study for GMAS

Friday:

We will be focusing on the 1996 Olympics and Georgia's role in the national and global economy.

Happy Monday! 

Here are a few reminders:

Make sure your child is making up any missing work/tests. Students are only given 3 days to make up work from an excused absence. 

Students should start preparing for the GMAS by studying their ISNs, Quizlet, online resources, and more. 

GMAS is on April 16th!! 

 

USATestprep Government Assignments due: March 31

 

We are moving on with the Government standard. Government takes up 25% of the test.

Monday

We will be learning about the foundations of Georgia's government including the state constitution, pledge to the Georgia flag, checks and balances, and seperation of powers.

Homework: Georgia Citizen Rights and Responsibilities Worksheet

 

Tuesday

We will be learning about the Legislative branch of Georgia. Students will go through the lawmaking process and get to create their own laws!

 

Wednesday

Thursday

We will be learning about the Judicial Branch of Georgia. Students will examine the steps in the criminal justice system.

Friday

Students will be learning about the Juvenile Justice system.

Happy Monday! Here are a few announcements for this week:

-USATestprep World War II and Post World War II module will be due Friday, February 8th. It is on the dashboard. 

 

We will be working on the following:

Monday

We reviewed both the World War II and Post World War II and took a quick assessment. The students did very well!!

Tuesday

We will be learning about the various businesses in Georgia with a Georgia stations activity. 

 Wednesday

We will be focusing on the impact of the transportation systems in Georgia. Students will be working on a scenario activity to determine each form of transportation.

Thursday

Students will be introduced to the Civil Rights Movement! The topics that will be discussed today will consist of:

-Brown v. Board of Education

Students usually get very excited about the Civil Rights so we would like to get them as engaging as possible!

Friday

Students will be completing an Achieve 3000 article which discusses the importance of the Civil Rights Act 1964.

*Homework* Work on USATestprep due Friday!!!

Happy New Year! 

Here are a few reminders for this week:

*USAtestprep Winter Break assignments are due January 14th. Students were given 3 weeks to complete assignments.

*QBA #2/Pre-GMAS will be given on January 14th. This will cover what we have learned from Reconstruction up until now, which is World War I.

 

This week:

Monday: We will be taking the QBA #2/Pre-GMAS assessment. Students are to get plenty of rest and to study! This is an important assessment and students are encouraged to do their best!

 

Tuesday: We will be discussing about the various forms of transportation in Georgia. Students will learn about the importance of transportation and how it effects the economy of our state. 

Homework:Study the materials necessary to master the standard.

 

Wednesday: I will reintroduce World War I! Students will learn about the causes, how did Georgia contribute, along with what happened after the war. Students will also learn about the causes and effects of the Great Depression. 

 

Thursday: Students will learn about the New Deal and the programs that impacted the state. Students will then be tasked to create their own New Deal program! This will be a project and will be worth 70 points. 

Homework: Work on your New Deal program project. 

 

Friday: Students will continue to work on their New Deal program project, which will be due January 22nd. 

Homework: Continue working on your New Deal program project.
