Happy Monday Parents and Students!

I hope that your Holiday was just as enjoyable and restful as mine! It's time to  "get back to the grind!"

I have a few announcements and tidbits:

*Report Cards will be sent home on January 16th

*USA testprep assignment: New South Review (which are three crosswords that I assigned since the day after Christmas) is due Wednesday, 1/10

*QBA #2 for Georgia Studies is on Tuesday, January 16th (I encourage students to study their study guides that were given to them in class today along with Quizlet live.)

This week we are discussing the following:

-On Monday, we are working on our QBA study guides as we are gearing up with a peer competition for our review on Thursday and we are watching "Mama Flora's Family" in relation to our New South standard (SS8H7c) explaining how African Americans were treated in the late 1800s to the early 1900s.

-On Tuesday, we are going to continue working on our QBA study guide along with the viewing of "Mama Flora's Family."

-On Wednesday, we are going to review for our QBA and finish watching "Mama Flora's Family."

-On Thursday, we will have our QBA review showdown! The students are excited for the competition because the winners will get bragging rights and a prize.

-On Friday, we review more for the QBA and will complete a document analysis on Jim Crow laws to enhance their reading and citing textual evidence skills.

*The QBA is an assessment that students must take to measure their knowledge of the content area from a period of time. The students have been working hard this last nine weeks and I know that they will do well on this test!

Thank you for all that you do,

Ms. Myers cool
