Hello Students and Parents!

This week we began remediation for all 8th grade students in preparation for the 8th grade GMAS retest. Students will be reviewing heavily in ELA and Math. Please look for homework from students who did not finish assignments in class. They will be given a quiz over their ELA skills each Friday.

Thank you for your continued support.

Hello Parents and Students!

I apologize for the lapse in updates last week and the week before. We have been working super hard to prepare for the Georgia Milestones test. As we are testing this week and next, please encourage your child to get a good night's sleep each night and to study the materials that their teachers have provided. Please encourage them to complete the assignments that I have listed for them in USA Test Prep and to use the study materials on my Canvas page and Quizlet.com.  We will take the Georgia Studies Milestones test on April 19th!!! As always, if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Hello Parents and Students!

This week we are completing Mock Testing for the Georgia Milestones to help students and teachers understand how the process will work during administration of the Georgia Milestones in April. We are also finishing up our unit on Georgia's government by discussing how  local governments work and how juvenile offenders are treated by the justice system in Georgia.

As we approach Spring Break, I will be adding to the list of review assignments in USA Test Prep. These assignments are required of students and will count as a homework grade. Please encourage your student to complete these activities in the coming weeks. Also, please encourage them to complete the games and review activities on Quizlet.com. This will help them review the important vocabulary that they need to help them pass the Georgia Milestones in Social Studies.

As always, please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns about your students' progress in my class. Have a wonderful week!

Happy Monday, Everyone!

It's hard to believe that we are already in the month of March! We have officially finished up with all of our history standards, which will be 47% of the 8th Grade Georgia Milestones Social Studies test and we are now moving on to learning about Georgia's government. This week we will discuss Georgia's constitution and how our state government is set up much like our national government--with separation of powers and checks and balances.

Students will have a variety of activities this week to gauge their learning, but should expect a formal quiz on Friday. There will also be homework given out on Tuesday and due on Thursday.

Please encourage your students to take advantage of tutoring and after school help on Thursday and Friday of this week. I will be available after school until 5:30 on both of those days.

Have a great week. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Good Afternoon Parents and Students!

It's hard to believe that it is almost March! The Georgia Milestone Assessment is right around the corner and we are finishing up our history standards this week. We will do a week-long review next week over our history standards next week because history is 47% of our GMAS test. Then, we will move on into studying government and Georgia state law. More details for this week are:

  • There will be a test over standards 11 and 12 on Friday. We will do a full review on Thursday. Please encourage your student to study these units on Quizlet.com and bring home their ISN to review their notes before the test.
  • Students have a vocabulary sheet for homework due on Wednesday. They can use Quizlet.com to complete it.
  • Students who did not complete the Civil Rights portion of their study guides today in class, are asked to complete it for homework tonight.

I hope you all have a wonderful week. As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.
