- Monday, December 12th from 2:45pm-4:30pm
Students on this afternoon will stay after school and report to the cafeteria for practice for the Christmas program. There will be no rehearsal after school on Tuesday, December 13th, the day of the event. Students will go home and prepare for the show at 7pm.

IMPORTANT VARIETY SHOW INFORMATION Wednesday, January 6th
Dear MBE 3rd-6th Grade Parents and Legal Guardians,
Greetings from the Music Department! I am in charge of organizing the Middleburg Elementary Variety Show. Last year was my sixth year putting everything together for the show and I’m happy to say it was a smashing success! We always have so much fun!
This year I will have a panel of teacher judges who have agreed to view preliminary auditions for the 3rd-6th graders. The preliminary auditions are after school on Jan. 25th or Feb. 1st from 2:45pm-4:30pm in the MBE cafeteria . If your child desires to participate in auditioning for the Variety Show, they must:
- Have their song or performance approved by Mrs. Allen in advance (There is a song approval list on back of this letter.)
- THIS IS A NEW RULE THAT WAS DECIDED BY ADMINISTRATION AND MRS. ALLEN—STUDENTS WHO ARE SINGING, MUST SING WITH A KARAOKE TRACK OR AN ACCOMPANIMENT TRACK. NO STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO SING OVER THE PERFORMER OF THE RECORDED SONG. KARAOKE TRACKS CAN BE PURCHASED OVER ITUNES OR AT MUSIC STORES IN THE GREATER ORANGE PARK AND JACKSONVILLE AREA. STUDENTS USING A RECORDING WITH THE ARTIST SINGING WITH THEM WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ACTUAL MBE VARIETY SHOW PERFORMANCE ON FEB. 26TH.
- Since the auditions have been scheduled to be held after school, students who normally ride the bus home will need to make certain that their parent signs the note on the back of this form indicating that they have permission to stay after school to audition. Any child that does not have a signed note will not be allowed to stay after school and will be sent home on their normal mode of transportation. Students who will be auditioning, must be picked up at 4:30pm in the bus circle of MBE on either Mon., Jan. 25th or Mon., Feb. 1st. If students are not picked up on time, they will not be considered for the show.
- Come PREPARED on whichever day they sign up to audition (either Jan. 25th or Feb. 1st). We will not reschedule or re-audition if students are not prepared or not present.
+They must bring their song either on a disc or iPod
+Bring any props or materials they will need
+Adult or older student participation requires a VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FORM from the front office.
+Have a plan for their performance
+Perform for no longer than 3 minutes
- Understand that just because they are auditioning does not guarantee them a spot in the show.
- Have good sportsmanship and showmanship by showing kindness to all those participating in auditions. If there is any report of rude comments or bullying, they will automatically be disqualified from participating in the auditions and the show.
There are two auditions that all students will have to pass (one of the preliminaries and the FINAL CUT) in order to participate in the show. Please understand that we would love to have everyone who auditions participate in the show, but we have time constraints to consider.
Please help your child plan and prepare for their audition as they are approaching quickly. Here is the time line:
- 1st Preliminary Audition: Mon., Jan. 25th (viewed by a panel of teacher judges and other student participants).
- 2nd Preliminary Audition: Mon., Feb. 1st (viewed by a panel of teacher judges and other student participants)
- Final Cut Audition: Mon., Feb. 8th (to be viewed by only teacher judges and student participants)
- Variety Show Rehearsal: Tues., Feb. 23 from 2:45pm-4:30pm in the cafeteria—please pick up your child in the bus circle
- Variety Show Rehearsal: Thurs., Feb. 25th from 2:45pm-4:30pm in the cafeteria—please pick up your child in the bus circle
- Variety Show Performance Day: Friday, Feb. 26th 7pm-8:30pm in the MBE cafeteria
Thank you for your cooperation and help with this fun event!
Sincerely, Mrs. Allen
