These final rehearsals will helps us add the finishing touches for our program that is next THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29TH AT 7PM in the cafeteria. Students should NOT WEAR their costume to these rehearsals next TUESDSAY AND WEDNESDAY.

The attached small form is your child’s permission slip that must be completed by you and returned to your child’s homeroom teacher to give them permission to stay after school next TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY, OCT. 27TH AND 28TH FROM 2:45PM-5PM.

If your child is not picked up at 5pm, they will be excused from chorus for the remainder of the semester. STUDENTS SHOULD NOT WEAR THEIR COSTUMES FOR THESE AFTERNOON REHEARSALS. ONLY FOR THE HALLOWEEN PROGRAM ON THE 29TH OF NEXT WEEK.

Please be certain to sign and return the small permission slip attached to this letter to your child’s teacher so that their homeroom teacher knows they are not supposed to use their regular mode of transportation after school those days. Please see the other side of this letter for more detailed information regarding the Halloween program next Thursday, October 29th.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20TH

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING HALLOWEEN PROGRAM, NEXT THURSDAY, OCT. 29TH

DRESS FOR HALLOWEEN PROGRAM: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29TH:

  • Chorus students are permitted to wear a Halloween costume for this program. They are not expected to wear black and white dress for this program. Black and white dress will be for the Christmas program on Thursday, December 17th.
  • Please make sure that the student’s costume is age appropriate and follow dress code standards.
  • Please do not create a “gorey” costume with lots of blood dripping from the mouth, or smeared over your child’s body. We want our costumes and appearance to be “scary/safe fun”. We don’t want students to look like “extras” for the famous show “The Walking Dead”.
  • Makeup on the face is permitted, but as stated above, please make sure the makeup is age appropriate.
  • If your child is planning on dressing as a ghost, please make sure they can walk safely with extra material surrounding their feet and legs. Our entire program involves moving around the stage and moving in place with various dance steps. Their costume should also keep their vision clear so they can see me and not worry about tripping and falling because they cannot see appropriately.

ATTENDANCE OF AFTERNOON REHEARSALS ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27TH AND 28TH:

  • Students who miss either one of the afternoon rehearsals will NOT be permitted to participate in the Halloween program on Thursday, October 29th. Our practice time is very important. If your child misses one of these vital rehearsals they will not feel prepared for the show.
  • If your child is running a fever and is throwing up on the days of the afternoon rehearsals or the day of the program, they will be excused and allowed to participate in the concert as long as they are not still running a fever the evening of the performance. If they still have a fever, they could be contagious, and could accidentally infect other children. This is flu season, so please be considerate and helpful to other families by keeping your child home if you know they are sick with a fever.
  • If there is a death in the family, and you happen to be out of town on family business o either one of these days, your child will be excused, and allowed to participate in the program.

ARRIVAL AT CAFETERIA THE NIGHT OF THE SHOW:

  • There will be NO afternoon rehearsal after school on Thursday, October 29th on the day of our Halloween program night. Do not have your child stay after school because their will be no one at the school to take care of them, and no one to pick them up and help them prepare for the concert that evening.
  • Students should arrive at the cafeteria no later than 6:30pm dressed and ready to sing. If they arrive earlier, you and your child will be asked to wait outside the cafeteria until 6:30pm.
  • Students should not arrive any earlier, because the doors will not open to the general public until 6:30pm. There are students restroom on either side of the cafeteria if your child needs to use the restroom.
  • After meeting in the cafeteria, Jr. Chorus students will be directed to the music room for last minute reminders and warm-ups. Sr. Chorus students will be directed to the portable across from Ms. Forhan’s classroom.
  • The back gate will not be opened. Please come to the bus circle side of the school when dropping your child off for the program. I hope all this information helps! The Halloween program is so much fun! You will enjoy every minute!

~Mrs. Allen

Ghosts Just Wanna Dance

Night falls on a spooky scene,
Deck the icy halls of black and green,
As the shadows rise here on Penguin Isle,
From the darkness there's a distant scream,

Whoa, that sounds like it's getting closer!
Drums are getting louder, bass is getting lower,
When the shadows spin, you'll be joinin' in,
But first you gotta find the key

Who knows what is behind that door?
Creeping up on the floor

We're not here to freak you out, we just came to shake it down,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, flip up your hands,
The ghosts just wanna dance,
Only want to haunt your igloo,
Give you chills and party with you,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, flip up your hands,
The ghosts just wanna dance

There's music seeping out of every room,
Follow the noises down,
Inside the gloom,
Frozen still in fright, like in out of sight,
Of a penguin dancing on a tomb

Who knows what is behind that door?
Creeping out on the floor

We're not here to freak you out,
We just came to shake it down,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, flip up your hands,
The ghosts just wanna dance.
Only want to haunt your igloo,
Give you chills and party with you,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, flip up your hands,
The ghosts just wanna dance

All the ghosts are getting crazy,
But they're not here to scare you,
Just to haunt the dance party,
Every puffle is there who came to get their creep on,
So I'm spinning this song,
So get your spooky spooky voices as you're singing along

Aaaaaah, aaaaaaah! Aaaaaaah aaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're not here to freak you out,
We just came to shake it down,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, flip up your hands,
The ghosts just wanna dance,
Only want to haunt your igloo,
Give you chills and party with you,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, flip up your hands,
The ghosts just wanna dance,
The ghosts just wanna dance,
The ghosts just wanna dance!!!!

Dear 2nd-6th Grade Parents,

Please be aware that Mrs. Allen will NOT be able to collect money from your child for a chorus event or for a classroom instrument on Fridays or after school.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Allen will NOT be able to collect any money from your child for a 4th grade recorder flute, a chorus t-shirt, a chorus field trip, or a chorus CD on any Friday, including any day after school. There are strict policies in place that all teachers and county personnel are required to follow concerning the collections of monies for school events.

If you send money to school with your child, or if you bring money to school on a Friday or any day after school hours (7:25am-2:55pm), your money will NOT be accepted. It will either be returned with your child or you will be asked to send it in or bring money for your child’s music materials on another day (Monday-Thursday—7:25am-2:55pm).

Mrs. Allen has a full schedule of classes from 8:45am-2:42pm in the afternoon, and she does not have time to collect money and turn it into the office on Fridays. Mrs. Allen is also not allowed to collect monies from students or parents after school hours (7:25am-2:55pm).

Thank you for your understanding and consideration on this matter.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Allen

K-6th Music Teacher and

Mrs. Hoffmann

MBE Bookkeeper

You can be the King Kong banging on your chest

You can beat the world

You can beat the war

You can talk to God, go banging on his door

You can throw your hands up

You can beat the clock (yeah)

You can move a mountain

You can break rocks

You can be the master

Don't wait for luck

Dedicate yourself and you gon' find yourself

Standing in the hall of fame (yeah)

And the world's gonna know your name (yeah)

'Cause you burn with the brightest flame (yeah)

And the world's gonna know your name (yeah)

And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame.

You can go the distance

You can run the mile

You can walk the straight through fire with a smile

You can be the hero

You can get the gold

Breaking all the records they thought never could be broke

Yeah, do it for your people

Do it for your pride

How are you ever gonna know if you never even try?

Do it for your country

Do it for your name

'Cause there's gonna be a day...

When you're standing in the hall of fame (yeah)

And the world's gonna know your name (yeah)

'Cause you burn with the brightest flame (yeah)

And the world's gonna know your name (yeah)

And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame

Be a champion, be champion

Be a champion, be champion

On the wall of the hall of fame

Be students, be teachers, be politicians, be preachers (yeah)

Be believers, be leaders, be astronauts, be champions, be truth seekers

Be students, be teachers, be politicians, be preachers

Be believers, be leaders, be astronauts, be champions

Standing in the hall of fame (yeah, yeah, yeah)

And the world's gonna know your name (yeah, yeah, yeah)

'Cause you burn with the brightest flame (yeah, yeah, yeah)

And the world's gonna know your name (yeah, yeah, yeah)

"Ghostbusters"

If there's somethin' strange in your neighborhood

Who ya gonna call?

(Ghostbusters!)

If it's somethin' weird an' it don't look good

Who ya gonna call?

(Ghostbusters!)

I ain't afraid o' no ghost

I ain't afraid o' no ghost

If you're seein' things runnin' through your head

Who can you call?

(Ghostbusters!)

An invisible man sleepin' in your bed

Oh who ya gonna call?

(Ghostbusters!)

I ain't afraid o' no ghost

I ain't afraid o' no ghost

Who ya gonna call?

(Ghostbusters!)

If you're all alone, pick up the phone

And call

(Ghostbusters!)

I ain't afraid o' no ghost

I hear it like the girls

I ain't afraid o' no ghost

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Who you gonna call?

(Ghostbusters!)

Mmmm, if you've had a dose

of a freaky ghost baby

You better call

(Ghostbusters!)

Let me tell you somethin'

Bustin' make me feel good

I ain't afraid o' no ghost

I ain't afraid o' no ghost

Don't get caught alone, oh no

(Ghostbusters!)

When he comes through your door

Unless you just a want some more

I think you better call

(Ghostbusters!)

Oh, who you gonna call?

(Ghostbusters!)

Who you gonna call?

(Ghostbusters!)

Ah, think you better call

(Ghostbusters!)

Who you gonna call?

(Ghostbusters!)

I can't hear you

Who you gonna call?

(Ghostbusters!)

Louder

(Ghostbusters!)

Who you gonna call?

(Ghostbusters!)

Who can you call?

(Ghostbusters!)
