Dear Kindergarten Parents,

On Monday and Wednesday, we will be going to the book fair. Please send in the money in an envelope inside the folder. There will be people to help the children buy books.

Please remember that dismissal on Tuesday will be at 12:00.
The children will need to bring a snack but no lunch.

On Wednesday, we will celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day with some special apple activities along with Pre-K and 1st Grade.

We will be finishing up with the Nursery Rhyme and Fable Domain 1 in ELA this week.

In Math, we will continue to work with hidden partners for numbers 1 to 5 and we will learn about zero. These are Topics C and D in Module 1.

Our Social Studies lessons continue with school rules and Johnny Appleseed.

Our Science lessons are about the characteristics of Fall.

Have a good week!

Mrs. Callahan

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Please remember that there is no school on Tuesday.

This week we will continue with Nursery Rhymes and Fables in ELA. We have started to use our Phonics books and everyday we practice a letter in our notebooks.

Our Math will continue with sorting and we will begin to work with numbers 1 to 5.

We will be attending Mass in the gym on Wednesday. We have been using our Religion books.

Science lessons will be about the change of seasons.

Please check the folders everyday. You can remove the homework that has been checked and all the notices.

Thank you. Have a good week,

Mrs. Callahan

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

We are off to a great start! Everything went well last week. We had a lot of fun together.

This week we will be starting the first ELA unit of the Common Core Curriculum. It is about nursery rhymes. We will also start our phonics book.

We will begin the Eureka Math program starting with comparing objects and counting from 1 to 5.

The first chapter in our Religion books is “God Made All Things”.
We have begun saying the Hail Mary and our prayers before snack and lunch. Please practice the Sign of the Cross at home.

We will continue to talk about the planets in science and social studies will be about class rules.

I hope to see you all at the Parents meeting tonight at 6:00. Children do not attend the meeting but they have made you something special!

Mrs. Callahan

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

I hope you all had a wonderful summer. I know everyone is excited to begin the school year!

On Thursday, September 7, we will meet in the parking lot at 7:55. Our class will line up on the side near the convent, farthest from the road.

Please bring a snack with you in a brown paper bag or zip lock. We eat snack at 9:00 so we just need something small. Some popular snacks are cereal in a small zip lock or container, go-gurt, mozzarella sticks, crackers, fruit or mini-muffins along with a juice box or water. Please don’t send in candy or chips.

We will eat lunch at 11:00 and this should be in a soft lunch box.
No hot lunch is available for the first couple of weeks.

Please bring the supplies on the list. Parents can help carry everything into the classroom on the first day. Put all items on the desk with your child’s name on it. The children will then sit on the rug. We will take care of the supplies later. You can bring the copy paper and tissues in on Friday. I know it’s a lot to carry.

This year will be filled we lots of fun and learning experiences. We plan to have a good time everyday! Any questions or problems please ask me in the morning or at dismissal or you can put a note in the folder. You can also email me at lcallahan @stannschoolyonkers .org but it may take a while to get an answer.

See you soon
Mrs. Callahan
