We will resume normal instruction this week after days off and QBA testing last week. We will have our tests over vocabulary, grammar, reading, and rocks and minerals on Friday. Please study every night with your child. Reading logs are due every Friday, and I add 10 bonus points to reading tests for logs turned in. Pumpkin Book Reports are due on October 26th. Report cards go home Thursday, pleases sign and return the next day. Check ClassDojo and your child's folder every day for other important updates.
No school Monday! We are continuing QBAs this week over science and social studies. Please make sure students arrive at school on time. We will have a reading, vocabulary, and grammar test on Friday. Please study with your child every night and make sure to fill out the reading log. Students may complete Achieve 3000 articles or IXL lessons to count for their reading log. Completed logs turned in on Friday will add 10 bonus points to their reading test. Please join us Thursday night for Math Night at Winn-Dixie on Macon Road. We look forward to seeing you there! Over the next two weeks, our students will be taking the QBA in all subjects. Please make sure your child is at school on time, we will begin testing promptly at 8:00. This assessment is to monitor progress over standards we have taught thus far. We will have our weekly tests over reading, grammar (plural nouns), and vocabulary this Friday. You can see the study guide on the homework page. Please remember to fill out the reading log each night. They are due every Friday, and if completed, I will add 10 bonus points to their weekly reading test. Please check the RED folder every night for updates, notes, and math homework from Mrs. Coleman. Graded papers go home on Wednesdays, please sign and return the envelope the next day. You may keep all of your student's work, unless it has a sign and return on the paper, then return it in the envelope.
Several students did not finish their reading stations today. I am sending the work home in their homework folders to complete and return tomorrow. There are study guides for vocab words and for social studies vocab words as well. There will be a test over all vocab words on Friday. We are doing SGMs this week in reading and math. These tests will be administered again in the spring to show growth. This week students will take a LevelSet test in Achieve to determine their current reading Lexile. If you would like to meet after these tests have been administered to discuss your child’s current levels and where they need to be by Georgia Milestones in the spring, please let me know and we will schedule a conference. Our school achieved Lighthouse status with The Leader in Me and will be recognized at the Board meeting tonight at 5:30 if you would like to show your support. I am in the process of inputting grades from last week (I have been VERY sick all weekend and am a little behind). I send Home all graded papers on Wednesday’s in an envelope for you to sign. Thank you so much for the extra supplies you have already sent in! We really appreciate it. For the next two weeks, we will be reviewing for Georgia Milestones. We will not have any vocabulary, grammar, or reading tests during this time. I will be sending home extra practice sheets and review items for you to go over with your child. Continue to read and do Achieve 3000 for extra practice and to help increase reading Lexiles. We will have a test over plant and animal adaptations on Friday.
