Students and Parents,

 

Last week I mentioned students would be coming home with class and contact information. I ran out of copies and was not able to get that information out to you. BUT, I have received more copies this week and will be printing the handout for your child to bring home. Please read it, visit my class website, my school notes page, and my class Instagram. 

 

This week in 6th grade we are learning about population distribution: where people live and why. We will also discuss environmental issues of the region. 

**Homework: No formal homework this week. Simply visit heymrsellis.weebly.com to review concepts we are covering this week!

Monday: Population distribution Cornell notes

Tuesday: Analyzing population maps + questions

Wednesday: Environmental issues notes and bubble thinking map

Thursday: Chernobyl disaster + design a "warning" sign

Friday: Language diversity notes in a foldable + videos 

 

In 7th grade, we are learning about current environmental issues of Southwest Asia (the Middle East) as well as population distribution. Each Monday, students will be participating in the GREAT program (Gang Resistance Education and Training) taught by Officer Joseph Copeland of the Columbus Police Department.

In 7th grade, we are learning about the physical geography of Southwest Asia (the Middle East) and current environmental issues of the region. Each Monday, students will be participating in the GREAT program (Gang Resistance Education and Training) taught by Officer Joseph Copeland of the Columbus Police Department.

My name is Vanessa Ellis and I will be your child's social studies teacher for the 2015-2016 school year! This week in 6th grade, we are beginning to set up our Interactive Student Notebook (ISN) and will start learning the geography of Europe.

 

In 7th grade, we are also setting up our notebooks, starting the GREAT program (Gang Resistance Education and Training program, similar to DARE), and will be learning the geography of Southwest Asia (the Middle East).

Dear Students and Parents,

 

This week, 6th grade will be reviewing for the Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS). Yes, its that time. We've covered all of the standards, now its just time to drill, drill, drill! Students will mostly be using their interactive student notebooks (ISNs) to review.

Monday- Europe review sheet

Tuesday- Go over answers and review the raps

Wednesday- Latin America review sheet; sing raps if time

Thursday- Canada and Australia review; sing raps if time

Friday- No school for students

 

 

This week in 7th grade we are also reviewing.

Wednesday- Africa review sheet

Thursday- GMAS practice questions

Friday- No school for students

Dear Students and Parents,

 

This week, 6th grade will be completing a CISM lesson. CISM stands for comprehension instructional sequence module. Students will work with an article for the entire week, reading it and rereading it, to answer the essential question: "Which economic and political system is MOST beneficial to citizens?" Students will gain valuable skills such as reading comprehension, analyzing, citing textual evidence, and writing.

 

 

This week in 7th grade we are finishing the last unit on Africa!

Monday- imports and exports rap

Tuesday- Mock Testing

Wednesday- imports and exports rap

Thursday- Economics of Africa foldable & imports and exports rap

Friday- environmental issues notes & imports and exports rap
