Dear Parents and Students,

 

This week we will be wrapping up our last week of instruction before students  take the Common Unit Assessment (CUA). CUAs are benchmark assessments students take before (pre-test) and after (post-test) they learn certain standards for a unit. 

6th Grade:

Monday- European Union RACE activity

Tuesday-Post World War I notes 

Wednesday- Post World War I timeline

Thursday- Impact of World War II notes

Friday- Iron Curtain simulation and Berlin Wall Documentary

 

7th Grade

Monday-  Ottoman Empire notes

Tuesday- Creation of Israel notes and debate

Wednesday- Wars of the Middle East notes, mock Congress

Thursday- GREAT Program (students can bring their topic in if they haven't already done so)

Friday- Government chart

Students and Parents,

 

This week is a short week. 6th grade will work on various forms of governments in Europe. 7th grade will continue to work on culture and religion of Southwest Asia. GREAT project topics are due this Thursday for 7th graders.

 

This Thursday is PTA Open House. Please come out and support our great school.

Greetings Parents and Students,

This week we start to jump into our Georgia Performance Standards and gear up for learning! Below is an outline for the week for both my 6th and 7th grade social studies classes.

6th Grade: Our first region of study is Europe. Students will complete a map locating the continent's major physical features and countries. This week students will also participate in their first performance task: a postcard from Europe!

Monday: Introduction to Europe

Tuesday: Begin map of Europe

Wednesday: Complete map of Europe

Thursday: Begin postcard performance task

Friday: Complete postcard performance task or finish over the weekend for homework!

7th Grade: Our first region of study is Southwest Asia (also known as the Middle East). Students will complete a map locating the area's major physical features and countries. This week students will also participate in their first performance task: a treasure map of S.W. Asia!

Monday: Introduction to the Middle East

Tuesday: Complete map of S.W. Asia

Wednesday: Begin treasure map performance task

Thursday: GREAT Program with Officer Copeland

Friday: Complete treasure map performance task or finish over the weekend for homework!
