EVERYONE is working on STEM fair.  Please check out the graphing tutorials on youtube and also get the handouts for completing your board:  conclusion, future applications, STEM template (instead of Abstract).

Check my youtube playlist on science skills to help with parts of your experiment, including Mr. Ranft's video on how to make STEM fair graphs.  We recommend the create-a-graph website if you don't know how to make graphs using a spreadsheet.  There is a tutorial for that as well.

STEM fair is fast upon us! By now you should have collected your data and are ready to start printing for your board. You will have class time every day this week in the computer lab, but not next week. If you need to stay after school please do not just assume someone will be here for you! Please let us know and make an appointment. Students participated in a power point on board design and how to dress appropriately for science fair. STEM boards are on sale in the book store. If you do buy one and leave it in the classroom you MUST put your names on the back in permanent marker, not pencil. Remember, we do not provide the supplies, construction paper, or boards. We also do not have a colored printer. Today: you should plan the next two weeks... they're going to be busy!

Parents, guardians, students!  Here's what has been going on:

STEM projects are well underway.   Most students have completed data collection.  If you have not yet completed data collection and experimentation, please do so no later than Feb. 28.  Otherwise, you will not have time to finish your board.   Ideally, boards should be done the Friday before STEM fair.  We will be busy doing other things the week of STEM fair.  Please check your STEM booklet for set up, dates, etc.

All students have had time with their mentors and classroom teachers for assistance with STEM projects.  Also, students took notes on a power point regarding essential board design and clothing.

MEANWHILE, curriculum continues!  We have started a new unit:  Lava Flows.   Students have completed title pages, a trigger movie (Supervolcano), a trigger cartoon, a difficult Earth's layers foldable, plus we have identified our BIg Question, and essential questions for Earth's layers.  Many of the answers to these questions can be found in a Crash Course Astronomy #11 Video: The Earth.  Please check Twitter @glynnstem for photos of my notebook.

Bored over vacation?   Things you can do:   Priority #1= STEM FAIR PROJECT.  If you need a break from that or are otherwise unable to work on it, watch videos on the YouTube playlist, Lava Flows.  At the very least, keep your eye on Twitter.  And of course, you could always rest and gear up for our very busy next few weeks!

Enjoy, be safe!
