April 25-May 2nd, 2012
Reading: Read every night for 15 mins. Do two(2)reading journal entries. Read sight words as part of your daily reading.
Math: Do math assignment on "Addition and Subtraction Problems" and "Tally Marks".
Writing: Write spelling words 5X's each. Write a sentence for each of your spelling words. Do assignment on "Inflectional Endings".
P.S. Parents/Guardians: Please send $2.00 for your child's cooking/ science project by May 2nd. We will be making salsa on Friday, May 4th and only the students that bring in their cooking/science project money will participate. Thank you for understanding and support.

Reading: Read every night for 20 mins. Do two(2) reading journal entries. Read 100 sight words as part of your daily reading.
Writing: Write your spelling words 5X's each. Write a sentence for each of your spelling words. Do the reading comprehension assignment "Jan and the Bug".
Math: Do assignments on "Word Problems for Addition and Subtraction".
P.S. I would like to thank you all for coming to the Spring Fest on Friday. I was very excited that you all showed up. Thanks for all the support that was given, the creativity on some of the costumes and the time to the costume ready for the night. Thanks it was a successful event for my 1st graders.

P.S. Remember that our Spring Fest is on Friday, April 13th at 7pm. Students must have their costume turned in by Thursday, April 12th. Also testing week is April 16-20, make sure your child is at school on time and present all week. Students that are here all week will get an ice cream on Friday.

Reading: Read every night for 15 mins. Do two (2) reading journals. Practice reading the 100 sight words every night as part of your daily reading.
Writing: Write your spelling words 5 times each on the paper provided. Write a sentence for each spelling word and circle the spelling word in each sentence.
Math: Do assignments on math word problems.
Addition Clue Words: in all, altogether, total and sum. When you see these words you should add.
Subtraction Clue Words: going away, left, more/less and difference. When you see these words you should subtract.
March 28-April 4, 2012
Reading: Read every night for 15 mins. Do two (2) reading journals per week. Go over sight words every night.
Math: do math assignments on "Double-digit Addition and subtraction"
Writing: Write 10 sentences. Then circle the noun or nouns and underline the verb. Do "Ben's Frog" assignment.
Noun is a person, place or thing.
Verb is a n action word such as running, ran, run.
P.S. Parents please make sure your getting the costume for your child ready. More details will be sent home. Scholastic Book Orders due Wed. April 4th.
