Dear Students and Parents,
We only have 2 days left until holiday break! On Monday we will finish our CISM lesson. CISM stands for Comprehension Instructional Sequence Module. It's a reading and writing strategy in which students work closely with an assigned article and complete various corresponding activities.
On Tuesday, we will create congratulations cards for our dear Assistant Principal, Katrina Collier-Long. She has been promoted to Principal at Reese Road Leadership Academy! Although she will be missed, we are very excited for this new chapter in her life and career. Ssshhhh! The cards are a surprise! Please don't tell her that we are working on cards for her.
Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the media center is our annual FSLMA Social Studies Fair! Feel free to come out and see the wonderful work our 6th and 8th grade magnet students have done! My 4th period class is having a end-of-semester lunch party on 12-19-16. If you have a child in my 4th period (11:52 a.m.-1:38 p.m.), please consider bringing in goodies for about 33 students. Thank you so much!
**Parents, I try to have quizzes weekly or bi-weekly to document students' mastery of the standards. Students are allowed to check out their interactive student notebooks (ISNs) with teacher permission to prepare for quizzes and in some instances are able to use their ISNs when taking a quiz. I also send out weekly or bi-weekly study sheets that require a parent signature to ensure that students are actually studying, I have review materials available under the 6th grade tab of my website, and I send out a reminder text message the week of the quiz.
