Cadets and Parents,

What an amazing last few days! Besides enjoying an Eagles Super Bowl victory, here is what else we have going on this week.

Our test that was originally scheduled for this Thursday, has been moved to Friday, February 9th.

I will be available for help after school on Tuesday & Wednesday of this week.

Please be aware that the half way point of the marking period is next Monday, Feb 12th and parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for Friday, February 16th during the school day (7-12). If you have a cadet who is struggling, please e-mail me at [email protected] to schedule a conference.

As always, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

E-A-G-L-E-S .... EAGLES! Enjoy the week, everyone!!

Sra.

This week we will continue working with La Misa Luna. Please see me ASAP if you have missed any part of the movie and need to watch it prior to the discussion date.

Our summative evaluations will be taking place on Friday, February 2nd, Tuesday February 6th. It is incredibly important that you be here on those days or an alternative assignment will need to replace the in-class discussion (2/3) and you will need to make up (in my presence) the writing assignment (2/2).

You can find the list of themes/topics for the writing prompt and discussion day under the files tab.

Welcome to Spanish! We now have a full week of class under our belt. Here is a recap of what you should have completed last week and a preview of what's coming up.

Last week we had our map quiz on Friday. Grades are now posted in HAC. If you are not happy with your performance, please see me ASAP for a one time only re-take opportunity (must be done by 2/2 - no exceptions!). This is a one time only offer (since it is the first quiz and I want everyone to have the opportunity to start the semester off on the right track). No retakes will be offered on any future tests or quizzes.

Last week in addition to working with the Map, we began looking at the Spanish alphabet and pronunciation. This week we will officially begin Leccion Preliminar (LP). We will likely have a quiz on the useful phrases Thursday or Friday and our chapter test will be next week.

Each cadet has been given a username and password to access the e-textbook and study resources - be sure to check them out and use them to your advantage this semester. There are great study tools (flash cards and practice quizzes) available for each chapter. Under my files tab, there are directions for how to navigate the website. ALL CADETS should have logged in to be sure their logins work. Please see me ASAP with any issues.

I will be available after school this week on Wednesday and Thursday for any cadet needing extra help.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Sra.

Cadets & Parents,

I hope everyone is keeping warm! Below are some important pieces of information regarding final exams.

Exemptions: Any Cadet who earned an A 1st MP, an A on the midterm exam and has an A as of the cut off date (determined by the Dean of Cadets) is not required to take the final exam. All students will be notified during class next week if they qualify.

Final Exam Format: All Cadets that are not exempt, are required to take the final exam. The final exam is worth 10% of the final grade. The Spanish 1 final exam consists of two parts. Part One will be administered in class on Tuesday, January 16th. Each cadet will be interviewed by the teacher. No notes of any kind may be used. Potential interview questions are posted under the "Files" tab of this school notes page. Please be sure to review the questions and practice in advance!!! Part Two of the Final Exam will be given during the scheduled exam period on Wednesday/Thursday and will consist of multiple choice questions covering vocabulary and grammar topics learned throughout the entire semester.
