Parents, This week we will begin our classroom activity with sentence structure. Students will be given their rubric for their at home project on the Civil Rights Movement on Wednesday. I will be sending home student grades with missing assignments listed. If your child needs computer time, Tuesday 4-4:45p, I will hold academic study time. Please encourage your child to work on Achieve 3000 outside of the classroom. This program is a great opportunity for students to increase their reading goals. If you have any questions please email me or call the school so I may assist you.

Hey parents and students,

This week is a short one. Monday was a day off for students while teachers completed trainings. Tuesday thru Friday we will begin our passage through the novel, While the World Watched by Carolyn McKinstry. The story of a survivor from the 1963 Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama. We will explore various events leading up to this historical event and what growth can come from such a horrific event. Students will explore how to reflect upon their reading and notate their thoughts.

In grammar, we will work on point of view, setting, and plot.

This new 9 weeks we will be engaging in writing informational pieces using sensory details and imagery.

Achieve 3000 is up and running. Students will need to utilize at home as well as in school. We are having competitions among the grade levels as well as within the classes themselves. The highest earner will receive incentives as well as exemplary marks for not only reading the articles, but for raising their lexile levels and correctly finishing the activities.

Please encourage our students to continue to study and read at home as well as in the classroom.
