This week in ELA Patriot's News,  students will be reading the myth, Arachne.  While reading the myth, they will cite textual evidence and determine a theme and analyze its development.  As the week progresses, students will begin reading about Abby Sunderland.  While reading various media, students will determine the central idea, analyze the structure of the text, and cite several pieces of textual evidence.  Please allow your student to do Achieve 3000 at home.  Students will have homework Tuesday.

In ELA Patriot's News, last week students worked on sentence structure as well as wrote expository essays.

This week in ELA Patriot's News, students will be creating a comic strip retelling the "Flight of the Icarus." Students will continue to cite textual evidence within a text, determine a theme and analyze its development, analyze how the elements of a story interact, and write explanatory text to convey ideas.  Homework will be assigned Thursday.  Please complete at least three Achieve 3000 articles this week.

This week in ELA Patriot's News, students will read the poem, "Icarus's Flight."  While reading the poem, students will cite textual evidence, analyze the impact of repetition of sounds in a poem as well as analyze how a poem's form contribute to its meaning.  Homework will be assigned Monday and Tuesday.   Please make sure you're checking your student's Weekly Reader.
