Week of Oct 15 - 19
Hello Parents and Students,
We are still studying Unit 1: Physical/Chemical Properties and Changes, States of Matter, and Phases of Matter. We will also take the Pre-GMAS Assessment on elements that have been covered.
Parents, please make sure that magnet students are working on their Science Fair Projects, if they chose science. Science Fair Projects are to be completed by November 26th. The School Science Fair will be held Wednesday November 28th. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!! The Science Fair Projects will be a big part of the students grade.

Week of Oct. 8 - 12
Hello Parents and Students,
We have a very busy week! First off we have Think Pink for Cure Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon tomorrow at 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. We also have our annual Job Fair Thursday starting at 10:00 a.m. 8th grade will be completing the PSAT 8/9. 7th and 8th grade will also complete the Pre-GMAS 1 district assessment on Friday October 12th. Please ensure that your child is studying Unit 1 notes to help them prepare. All students are required to check out their ISN(Interactive Student Notebook)to prepare for this assessment. They may also refer back usatestprep to view the videos.

Pure substances and mixtures module in usatestprep - Oct 1 - 12 (Due Oct. 12th) NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!

Week of Oct. 1 - 5
Greetings Parents and Students,
We are continuing to study Unit 1. This week we are reviewing elements. compounds, and mixtures and physical and chemical properties/changes. I will hold tutorial Wednesday from 4;05 - 5:05 p.m. If your child is a magnet student, they should be currently working on their Science Fair Project. We will be taking a district assessment (QBA 1) on Oct. 12th. Please ensure that your child is studying the required material. 8th grade students will also be taking the PSAT Assessment on Oct. 10th.
Homework:
Students should complete Atomic Structure Packet thsi week and return by Friday Oct. 5th.

Week of Sept. 24 -28
This week we continuing to study Atomic Structure, Periodic Table, Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures. We will be completing a lab on atoms, molecules, elements, compounds, and mixtures, using marshmallows.
All magnet students are required to complete a Science Fair Project. Please encourage your child to complete and submit a project. If any assistance is needed, they have been informed that they are allowed to work on it with me and other teachers.

Week of Sept. 17 - 21
Hello Parents and Students,
We are continuing to study Unit 1. This week we will be studying about elements, compounds, and mixtures. We will complete labs and small group activities as we move this content. Tutorial will continue to held on Wednesdays from 4:00 - 5:00. All students will need to be picked up by 5:00, due to other obligations. Students was assigned Atomic Structure module on Monday Sept. 10th. It will be due Friday Sept. 21st. NO EXCEPTIONS. If students does not have computer access at home they are welcome to stay after school to complete the modules. Students will receive a Science Weekly Reader to complete by Friday. Parents are sign off that students have read the material and answered comprehension questions. Science weekly readers will be assigned every 3rd week of the month.

Atomic Structure modules: usatestprep- Vocabulary, Questions, Performance Task, and Videos
Science weekly reader- Everyday Compound or Poison (read and answer comp. questions #'s 1-10)
