September 4-11, 2013

Reading: Read every night for 20 minutes. Do two reading journal entries per week. Read the story of "The Big Box Fix Up" and "At the Pond," on a daily basis. These books are extra reading materials not to be used for reading journal entries. Read memory and Dolch words on a daily basis.

Writing: Write a sentence for each new memory word. Circle the nouns and underline the memory word that was used in the sentence.

Math: Do math assignments:
Wednesday: Write your numbers 1-200(2 times).
Thursday: Write your numbers counting by 2's up to 200 (2 times).
Friday: Write your numbers counting by 5's up to 200 (2 times).
Monday: Write your numbers counting by 10's up to 200 (2 times).
Tuesday: Practice your addition facts: 1st grade: 1-6 and 2nd grade: 1-10

Reading: Read every night for 20 mins. Do two reading journal entries per week. Read the story of "Golly's Fitness Plan" and "Sal's Closet" as part of your daily reading. These books are not to be used for your journal entries. An additional list of books has been attached. These books may be used for reading journal entries. The books given must be brought back with your child's homework. Practice reading memory and Dolch words.

1st grade: Learn addition facts 4, 5, and 6.
2nd grade: Learn addition facts 6, 7, 8, 9,10.

Reading: Read every night for 20 mins. Do two reading journal entries per week. Read the story of "The Flat Cat" and "Golly and the Vet" as part of your daily reading. These books must be brought back with your child's homework. Practice reading memory and Dolch words.

Math: 1st grade-Write numbers counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's up to 50. (4 times) Learn addition facts 1's, 2's, and 3's. Practice every night.
2nd grade-Write numbers up to 100. (5 times) Learn addition facts 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's, and 5's. Practice every night.

Writing: Write a sentence for new memory words.

1st and 2nd grade

Reading: Read every night for 20 mins. Do two reading journal entries. Read the additional story that I have given you every night as part of your daily reading. This story is not a story that you could use for your reading journal entry. It is an extra reading practice story. Every week you will be receiving a new story/book to read at home on a daily basis. I will be testing you on a monthly basis on one of these stories.The 2nd grade students can borrow books from the school however there is a $10.00 non-refundable deposit required. Read sight words and Memory Words as well. The list was attached with your child's first homework packet.



Writing: Write a sentence for each memory word.

Math: Do your math assignments. One worksheet every night.

August 8-14, 2013

*As a reminder, homework packets will be given out every Wednesday and are expected to be returned the following Wednesday.
*Also, it is expected that students do the homework themselves however, may be guided by a parent, guardian, or sibling.

Writing: Write your first and last name 10 times once a day, write numbers 0-200 once a day and write the alphabet, both upper and lowercase letters once a day.(5 total)

*Begin working on memory words and 1st quarter sight words.The list has been attached to your child's homework if you need an extra one please let me know.

Thank you for working hard and I look forward to seeing these assignments on Wednesday 8/14/13.
