We are really enjoying our baby chicks in our classroom! We now have nine healthy chicks. There are still 3 eggs in the incubator, so hopefully they are okay and will still hatch. The 4-H coordinator did say that it's possible that not all the eggs will hatch. But I am praying for these guys!

At Center Time today we had the "baby chick" center open. The children took turns visiting and holding the baby chicks. We also made coffee filter butterflies by using an eye dropper to drop water colors onto a coffee filter. It was cool to watch the colors spread.

We had Chapel today, and Pastor Linda and Mr. Mike talked about how Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega. We sang a song about Jesus being the first and the last.

Tomorrow is pizza day. You can order in the morning if you haven't ordered yet. Also, please send back the permission slips for the field trip.

Have a great day!

We had a very exciting morning in our classroom! We observed a baby chick being born! It was awesome to watch it use his beak to crack open the shell. Currently, 3 out of the 12 chicks have hatched.

Also, all 6 caterpillars are in their cocoon. We are very busy in our classroom!

At tables today we colored, cut, and glued on a piece of paper in the correct order the life cycle of a caterpillar. We also did a caterpillar writing activity and counting activity.

We had gym class today and Miss Maddy worked on various large motor activities. We also had free choice where we could play basketball, bowling, or hula hoop.

If you haven't turned in your permission slip yet for the field on Monday, please do so tommorrow.  Thank you!

Have a great day!

Miss Patty

This week we will continue to observe the life cycle of a caterpillar. Four out of the six caterpillars have made their cocoons. We observed today as the other two climbed to the top and twisted their body. I think they will also be in their cocoon soon.

We also added a new topic for this week. We are hatching baby chicks! We are participating in the 4-H Embryology Program. An educator from the U of D came this morning and dropped off 12 eggs that are currently in an incubator. By Friday, we should have 12 baby chicks in our classroom! The children are very excited about Caterpillars, Butterflies, and Baby Chicks!

Today we had on the tables play dough, a caterpillar alphabet puzzle, a butterfly puzzle, painting, caterpillar observations, and a life cycle of the caterpillar coloring sheet which the children had to do in the correct order.  We read a book called The Sad Caterpillar.

We had outdoor recess, enjoy this beautiful day!

At the art table today we used the rim of plastic cups to dip in paint and make circle caterpillars. We also painted butterflies that we will hang in our classroom. We observed how much bigger our caterpillars have grown!

At group time we read a book called Where Do Butterflies Go When It Rains? We played an upper/lowercase letter matching game and a number matching game. The children had to match the wings correctly to make a butterfly.

In Spanish class today Miss ViVi showed us a video about animals living under the sea. We did a coloring sheet of sea animals and practiced saying the names in Spanish.

There is no school tomorrow.

Enjoy the nice weekend!

We had a great start to our day by enjoying a nice breakfast together! Thank you to all the dads, brothers, and uncles who came to our special breakfast. We really enjoyed having you all here!

At group time we read a book called Charlie the Caterpillar. At the tables we had an m&m patterning activity, caterpillar observations, and an art table with pom poms, craft sticks, glue and scrap paper. We also asked the question: which do you like better, a caterpillar or a butterfly? We did a graph to see what was the favorite.

We had Chapel today. Pastor Linda told us the story of a woman named Tabitha who sewed clothes for people who needed them. We also sang songs about the Risen Jesus with Mr. Mike.

Have a good day!
Miss Patty
